You may remember back in May that we proudly announced that we were nominated as finalists for the independent jeweller of the year 2014. This in itself was an extremely proud moment for us, being one of only six finalists was a wonderful reflection of the way in which we work. Over the last month the tension has been slowly building in the knowledge that on the evening of July 2nd the winner would be announced.
Well last night we were all given the answer to the question ‘Who will win?’ and it was none other than Banks Lyon, a jeweller from a small northern city. We had always said that simply being nominated was a victory and so were admittedly surprised and a little shocked when the winning announcement was made.
The Retail Jeweller Watch and Jewellery Awards takes place every year and is one of the most recognisable and prestigious awards for jewellers in the UK. There are seventeen categories that the awards fall under and each highlights a different facet of the UK jewellery industry. The ceremony takes place in one of the most incredible locations in all of the UK, the wonderful Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane. Throughout the evening each award is announced and the reasons for them being singled out are explained.
The Independent Jeweller of the year award is one of the final awards to be announced so all here at Banks Lyon had a long and nail biting wait to hear the result. Upon the announcement the award was presented to Rodney and Jasmine on the glittering stage set up for the event by none other than Rick Edwards.
When asked about the award Rodney stated “This is a truly incredible recognition for a long standing family run business based in the North West of England. This is in no way about me as an individual; it is instead about my team as a whole. I’m very fortunate to have a team who are both dedicated and loyal, and who have benefitted from professional training and gained years of experience that enables them to help in every way that the Banks Lyon business requires, and because of this I very much treat and think of them as my own family.”
The award was presented to Banks Lyon in recognition of the way in which we contribute to the overall jewellery industry and our constant focus on customer service. We have always understood that customer behaviour and customer needs are constantly changing and evolving and we have worked hard to always meet them. Our customer focussed approach does not only apply to our in-store service and our entertaining and helpful presence across social media platforms was also highlighted as one of the reasons we stood out from the crowd.
After winning the award we have no plans to rest on our laurels and are committed to continuing to maintain the excellent standards that have gained us this accolade. We hope that the award will allow us to continue with our success and help us to continue to meet and exceed our customers’ requirements.
