Bremont Baselworld Releases: an Overview

It’s fair to say that the Banks Lyon team have a rather soft spot where Bremont is concerned. Given the fact that our staff have attended training days with Britain’s most famous horological brand, this perhaps shouldn’t be a surprise, but we’d also argue that it has more than a little to do with their highly impressive timepieces. We therefore scarcely need to say we were extremely excited to see what Bremont had brought to Baselworld 2015, so here’s an overview of their standout releases…

The Bremont Boeing GMT

We’ve already covered the brand new Bremont Jaguar watches that were unveiled at Baselworld, so we won’t spend too much time re-treading old ground in this feature; let’s just say they were even more impressive in the flesh than they were on our screens. However, the Boeing collection – one of last year’s Baselworld highlights for Bremont – has provided us with plenty to talk about.

If you recall, one of the Brand’s approaches from Baselworld 2014 was to introduce a GMT function to the Breitling Navitimer collection, as such a complication is becoming increasingly essential in our modern and travel-focused world. As such, it’s unsurprising to see Bremont follow suit with their popular Boeing selection, and, given the aviation theme of these watches, it’s a well-judged step. Resplendent in Boeing grade titanium, the new Bremont Boeing is a watch for the contemporary globe-trotter.

The Bremont ALT1-ZT

Another refinement to an existing assemblage, Bremont’s Baselworld news concerning the ALT1-Z range is perhaps even more exciting that the developments to their Boeing watch, as the ALT1-Z has been an icon of Bremont since their inception. Since the launch collection in 2007, this family of watches also hasn’t been expanded; until now. The new ALT1-ZT retains many of the chronograph functions of the original – including the ability to cover ‘Zulu Time’ – but it brings greater clarity and user-friendliness to the table; with a refined dial, a bi-directional inner rotating bezel and a selection of details – like applied indexes – to maximise practicality. We just can’t fault Bremont’s thinking!

The Bremont U-22 Bronze

The Bremont U-2 range was originally an almost exclusive collection for the crack U-2 squadron of spy planes, but the U-22 is a further update to these watches, and heightens the specifications even more. With a new design of bezel and date, and an adjusted hue for the barrel, you may dismiss these adjustments as superficial, but that’s not the case at all. The inspiration for the U-22 came from another Bremont military undertaking, and so the inner rotating bezel is intended to serve during navigation weather mapping, whilst the anti-reflective barrel echoes the appearance of cockpit canopies. Although an exhibition caseback again suggests a priority of form over function, the ability of the U-22 to withstand the Martin Baker ejection seat programme tells a different story! This chronometer may look classy, but it’s also equipped to withstand all the world can throw at it.

Although most of their Baselworld releases were considered refinements to well-beloved watch collections, Bremont have gone about their business with their customary attention to detail, producing some truly superb chronometer designs. If you’re interested in finding out more about any of these watches, you can visit the Bremont Jaguar, Bremont Boeing, Bremont U-2 and Bremont ALT1 pages on our website, or even have a look at our Baselworld releases page to see the work of all the brand names in its entirety.
