 
If you take any interest at all in the world of luxury Swiss horology, and in the dealings of TAG Heuer in particular, then you probably couldn’t help but notice that a pretty big unveiling took place at the conclusion of last week. Made public in the last few days, TAG Heuer’s latest brand ambassador has been announced, and it already looks like a typically daring – not to mention hugely successful – collaboration in the making. It doesn’t seem that long ago since TAG Heuer recruited Cristiano Ronaldo as a brand ambassador, and such a high-profile partnership naturally left one wondering where the brand might look for their next feminine ambassador. With existing ambassadors like Maria Sharapova enjoying another strong run at this week’s Australian Open, the sports angle is fairly well covered. As you’d expect though, TAG Heuer looks to have made exactly the right move.
You’ll have gathered from our title that Cara Delevingne is the lady in question, and the golden girl of the socialite world is guaranteed to make a major impact for TAG Heuer. Described by TAG Heuer as a ‘bold free-spirit’, a ‘true path-breaker’, and as someone who ‘pushes past conventions and limits with creativity and passion’. In short, she embodies a multitude of the values that TAG Heuer prides itself on, and the unveiling of this development in Paris on the eve of Fashion Week was something to behold. Holding court in front of 150 journalists, the ‘catwalk princess’ was at her charming best.
Nobody has ever accused TAG Heuer of playing it safe, and so the exhibition space melded both classical solemnities with Delevingne’s trademark wild-side. Mind you, it perhaps isn’t too hard to command attention when you’re carrying a lion cub around with you (perfectly chosen to match the tattoo on Delevingne’s index finger), so the entire spectacle isn’t something that anyone is likely to forget anytime soon. Despite the glamorous edge to the celebrations though, TAG Heuer CEO, Jean-Claude Biver, welcomed Delevigne to the TAG Heuer family with all due gravity, stating that ‘we needed someone disruptive yet elegant like Cara to open our minds to the brashness and boldness of today’s youth… welcome aboard’. Clearly, TAG Heuer remains relentless in its intent to evolve with a changing world and, as they so rightly say, Cara Delevingne is the ideal person to assist them.
Of course, Delevingne’s capabilities are as varied as the TAG Heuer watches that are manufactured by her new and prestigious Swiss partner, with various acting roles and music ventures, along with a voice-over part in the astronomically successful Grand Theft Auto V video game, all to her credit. A woman of many talents she might be, then, but she’s still declared a single favourite timepiece from among TAG Heuer’s varied portfolio, and that watch belongs to the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection.
