Join Omega in Celebrating the Countdown to ‘Rio 2016’

In many ways, Omega is a brand that’s as synonymous with world-class sporting events as it is with superior craftsmanship and quality, and watches like the Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 are the reason why. True to the heritage of the company, and the status of the games themselves, this is a truly exceptional watch which will undoubtedly be displayed proudly by the 316 people lucky enough to acquire one for themselves; we certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see it adorning the wrists of more than a couple of sports professionals over the coming year.

Such a beautiful watch deserves some deeper consideration, as does the Seamaster Bullhead series in general, so today we’d like to look beneath the surface and think about what makes such a luxurious horological item tick – as well as the style features that give it such an appealing exterior.

Externally, the Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 features a blue leather strap, reflective of the ‘Rio 2016’ logo, while bursts of blue, red, green and black colour reflective of the Olympic rings come from subtle yet significant stitching along the edges. Of course, Omega has also chosen to reflect this colour scheme on the bezel, a decision which they have stated is ‘a meaningful reminder of the unity and harmony that the Olympic rings signify’. It also features a central chronograph seconds hand and a 30-minute recorder at 12H, as well as Omega’s exclusive Co-Axial calibre 3113.

As you can probably tell, the design of this watch is truly Olympian, but its connections to the world of sports are certainly not simply cosmetic. Omega have already acted as Olympic Games Official Timekeeper 27 times in the past, bringing their inimitable timekeeping skills to the event to measure and record the results that turn everyday people into heroes and champions.

Their involvement with the games dates all the way back to 1932, when they supplied thirty calibre 1130 stopwatches to allow times to be measured to the nearest 1/10th of a second for the first time in history. Moving forwards into the modern age, the London 2012 Olympics saw Omega introduce their Quantum timing products, with an incredible precision of 0.1 parts per million.  Using components manufactured by Micro Crystal, these continued Omega’s commitment to ever-increased reliability and precision.

The Seamaster Bullhead itself also boasts an intrinsic association with the sporting world, as the 1969 original was once used by rally drivers to help them time their laps effectively. Longstanding fans will be pleased to hear that the original Bullhead has in fact been reissued, the legendary timepiece now sporting a black rubber strap with red stitching.

If you want to display your status as a sporting aficionado to the outside world, then the reissued Bullmaster couldn’t be a better choice. We have this model currently available for £6,070.00, or on a 36 month 0% finance plan at £124.89 per month.
