Limited Edition Chronograph Joins the Transocean Range

Breitling continues to be extremely active this year, with a brand new limited edition chronograph set to join the ranks of their extremely popular Transocean range. It doesn’t seem very long since we introduced the last newcomer to the Transocean family – a release which was instantly hailed as a real ‘contemporary classic’ – but this latest Transocean shows no sign of being hurried, boasting a thoughtful design and highly impressive technological capabilities.

With just 2,000 pieces on offer, the new Transocean is likely to be in great demand, but it’s not only special by virtue of its exclusive nature. The design conforms to a bicompax chronograph pattern, and the dial is subtly shaded in two tones for even greater appeal. When you factor in the date aperture and the presence of a tachymeter scale, it’s easy to see the influences of a venerated 1958 aesthetic creeping into the form of this Transocean, but the design certainly hasn’t lost any of its intrigue. In keeping with this ‘vintage’ theme, the distinct ‘B’ initial that once served as Breitling’s emblem is emblazoned on the dial in 18 carat gold, so this timepiece is extremely rich in heritage.

The 1958 wristwatch that we’ve just mentioned was a genuine landmark in the sense that it was a timepiece that evolved alongside the boom in intercontinental air travel, so Breitling have set themselves a stern mission indeed by evoking the spirit of such a timepiece once again. Even then, precision and the ability to shrug off the adverse effects of shock, magnetism and immersion in water were very much expected, and so the new Transocean chronograph follows on from, and indeed adds to, this trend. Now boasting a 70-hour power reserve and sapphire crystal that’s glare-proofed on both sides, it’s fair to say that this Transocean lives up to its venerated forefathers.

Despite its restrained, almost ‘pared-down’ appearance, the limited edition Transocean has a lot to offer in terms of its appearance. We’ve already touched upon the two-tone dial, but there’s also the delicate ‘twinzone’ silver toned date aperture and gold applied hour markers. Furthermore, turning over the watch reveals the delightful inclusion of not only an exhibition caseback, but also room for a personalised engraving as well. This marvellous timepiece can be secured to the wrist using either an original steel mesh bracelet or a leather strap, and even crocodile leather is on offer to this end. Entirely Breitling in every respect, this dynamic wristwatch is refined to perfection.

Here at Banks Lyon Jewellers, we’re always fascinated to see the fresh directions in which Breitling is taking its latest creations, and whilst we don’t currently stock the newest Transocean model, we do have access to a vast selection of established Breitling Transocean watches that allow you to see the progression of this extraordinary range.
