From the early sixties until 1995 the Rolex Submariner was the watch of choice for James Bond. However, when Pierce Brosnan made his debut as James Bond in the 1995 movie Golden Eye 007 was equipped with an Omega Seamaster and has continued to do so when played by Daniel Craig in the two most recent Bond movies.

Being the time piece of choice for James Bond helped to elevate the Rolex Submariner to its current Iconic status and it seems that Brosnan and Craig’s Bonds are helping the Omega Seamaster to achieve a similar level of popularity.

Of course James Bond has excellent and highly refined taste, so naturally his watch of choice is always going to be truly stylish and iconic. Since Bond adopted the Seamaster, most owners of Omega watches are probably pleased to share the same brand of watch as James Bond himself, and they might even like to think that Rolex owners are feeling a little put out after 007 switched his allegiance. However, times change and after over thirty years of wearing a Rolex Mr. Bond was almost certainly overdue for a new timepiece.

The Omega Seasmaster also features very heavily in the extremely popular Golden Eye video game that was available on the Nintendo 64 as a tie in with the movie which undoubtedly helped cement the idea of The Seamaster as 007’s watch of choice in the public eye.
