Cartier is a name synonymous with wealth and prestige, and is often the most likely luxury watch brand to be recognised by people who are not watch enthusiasts, so famous is the name. Easily the most well known Cartier watch model is the Cartier Roadster. Launched in 2001, it has a particularly unusual shape and is very recognisable even from a distance. Cartier Roadster watches are inspired by roadsters from the American racing circuit in the 1950s and 1960s, and the stylish lines and durability reflect this. The timepiece’s unusual case and crown, shaped with straight and rounded lines, is its most famous feature and is most often described as ‘tonneau-shaped’. This feature has been retained in the various upgrades to the line, including most recently in the Cartier Roadster S. It includes a curved case for additional comfort, and includes a date marker at 3 o’clock. In addition, the sapphire crystal is coated with AR, the hands have been painted with SuperLumiNova for added legibility, and the watch comes in various sizes from small to extra large.

Versatility is one of the defining features of Cartier Roadster watches. The straps are interchangeable, with choices of steel, leather and rubber for materials. A good range of dial colours are available, and there have been several limited editions including white gold and rose gold.
