Valuations:

Insurance and Probate valuations are undertaken on site, we offer high quality digital photographs of the more important pieces in your collection. You receive a professional certificate, giving a detailed description of the items and a replacement value for an insurer to pay out in the event of loss. Our valuation allows you obtain insurance cover for the goods of a sufficient value that will compensate you in the event of a loss. All fine Swiss watches require a service to ensure they last a lifetime, recommended every 4-6 years by most high end watch brands, the main reason for servicing is that there are usually over 200 moving parts, and with so many parts oils and lubricants are required, think of it like a Car that requires a service every year or every so many thousand miles etc.

There are different oils used in wristwatches. Thin oils can dry up and thicken and heavy oils can loose their cohesiveness and eventually move off the pivots.

The gaskets that ensure water resistance are another vital reason for wanting to get your watch serviced. Though gaskets generally do not get much action and can stay effective for much longer than the oils.

If you ever see your watch face mist up get your watch to an authorised dealer as soon as you can, or the moisture will corrode your movement.
