THE RICH HISTORY OF OMEGA WATCHES

Founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Louis Brandt, OMEGA’s rich and colourful history has cemented the Swiss watch manufacturer’s place as one of the world’s most desirable watch brands on the planet. Initially, Brandt would assemble key-wound precision pocket timepieces with parts supplied from local craftsmen, selling them to businesses in Italy and England.

OMEGA WATCHES IN THE 1800’s

Constantly innovating, OMEGA began to produce the world’s first mass-produced movements back in 1885 and continue to lead the way with cutting-edge technology to this day. After enjoying years of success thanks to Louis Brandt’s son’s revolutionary in-house manufacturing and total production control system that allowed component parts to be interchangeable, the company employed over 800 people and produced over 240,000 OMEGA watches annually by 1903.

GLOBAL OMEGA WATCHES

Renowned as one of OMEGA’s greatest watch architects, Paul-Emile Brandt’s influence on the brand can still be seen today, as he and Joseph Reiser began to grow the watch empire even further, absorbing and creating around 50 companies who all played a role in ensuring the watches were sought after by people around the world. Two of the companies formed by OMEGA watches are the well-known Lanco and Lemania brands, who manufacture the globally renowned OMEGA chronograph movements.

OMEGA WATCHES FOR ACCURACY

Over the years, the accuracy displayed by these watches became so well respected that the OMEGA Speedmaster was chosen by NASA as the first watch to be worn on the moon. Their precision and exquisite design has also led them to be named the first and only official timekeepers of the Olympic Games. We offer the OMEGA Olympic watch collection at Banks Lyon.

They introduced the co-axial movement in 1999 and produced the world’s first Master Chronometer with the OMEGA Globemaster. This innovation and excellence are showcased in every OMEGA watch, ensuring that you have a timepiece that’s both attractive and accurate.

OMEGA GENTS & LADIES’ WATCHES

Today, OMEGA has retained many of its historical qualities that have made the brand so popular today. From watches designed for diving such as the durable OMEGA Planet Ocean to classic timepieces like the OMEGA De Ville and the OMEGA Constellation, you’ll find craftsmanship and attention to detail in every piece, with many ranges offering timepieces to suit both gents and ladies alike.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT OMEGA WATCH FOR YOU

Whether you choose the OMEGA Seamaster range or the rugged sensibilities of the stunning OMEGA Speedmaster range, OMEGA watches offer a style to meet even the most demanding of tastes. The versatility and vast range of watches on offer highlight the brand’s rich history and dedication to always doing right by their customers throughout the years.

OMEGA WATCHES WITH UNPARALLELED ATTENTION TO DETAIL

OMEGA watches have earned their reputation as the leading watch brand from years of striving for quality and advancement. With the step made towards in-house manufacturing earlier on in the brand’s life, they have retained full control over individual part quality. Together with faster manufacturing processes, this was a recipe for huge success, ultimately becoming world-renowned for high attention to detail and precision.

The attention to detail in all of their watches ensures that each and every customer will go home with a timepiece that is capable of lasting a lifetime and more. Whether your OMEGA watch is designed for use at great depth or high speed, you can be confident that your watch will perform.

TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED WATCHES

OMEGA continuously incorporate technological advancement into their designs, for example, the helium escape valve integrated into the OMEGA Seamaster Watches for deep sea dives that last several days.

When it comes to longevity, you can rest assured that the movement encased in each and every product will stand the test of time too, with all watch movements being painstakingly made in order to be as accurate as possible.

How Accurate is an Omega Watch?

Omega watches are known for their exceptional accuracy. The accuracy of an Omega watch can vary depending on the specific model and movement it uses. Omega offers a wide range of movements, including both mechanical and quartz, each with its own level of precision.

Mechanical movements, which are powered by a mainspring and regulated by a balance wheel, are renowned for their craftsmanship and precision. Most mechanical Omega watches are certified as chronometers, which means they have undergone rigorous testing by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) and meet strict accuracy standards.

On the other hand, quartz movements, powered by a battery, are known for their exceptional accuracy. Omega quartz watches use high-precision quartz crystals to regulate timekeeping, resulting in extremely precise timekeeping with deviations typically measured in seconds per month rather than per day.

Overall, whether you choose a mechanical or quartz Omega watch, you can expect a high level of accuracy that exceeds industry standards.
