A true representation of luxury and style, the Pasha de Cartier watch demonstrates the combination of elegant design, beautiful craftwork and sheer opulence. The Turkish word ‘pasha’ relates to a person with great authority and wealth, often in a military capacity, and it was the Pasha of Marrakech that commissioned one in 1933, as he wanted a watch that he could wear to go swimming in. The Pasha de Cartier then became the one of the earliest water resistant watches by adding a cap cover for the crown, sealed with screws.
There have been some incredible design innovations among Pasha de Cartier watches. One of the most recent and arguably the most stunning are the timepieces in the Pasha de Cartier Skeleton collection, which as the name suggests strips the watch to its bare bones, often embellished with jewels. The most distinctive and rare of these is the Pasha de Cartier Panthere Skeleton, which features outlines of a panther’s face, set with 4.1 carats of diamonds on the case and movement. Its eyes are pure emerald, and the bezel and cabochon tipping the winding crown are encased with diamonds. The timepiece’s movement is beautifully visible on the case back. Only a few of these gorgeous watches are made per year, and the exclusivity makes them even more covetable.
Pasha de Cartier watches are a real expression of luxury; their sensually round cases and distinct Arabic numerals marking them out against other Cartier timepieces, and other watches in general. Little can compete with this level of lavishness.
