The Windermere Airshow on July 25th 2010 will feature the daring exploits of the Breitling Wingwalkers, the world’s only formation wingwalking display team. On this occasion they will be unveiling their new colours—this is their first season sponsored by Breitling.

The Breitling Wing Walkers
Breitling have long been the official suppliers to the aviation world, and their sponsorship of these daredevils is to be expected from a company with such a strong aviation heritage (and beyond: the Breitling Cosmonaute was specially designed for space exploration and on May 25th, 1962, Scott Carpenter tested it out on his orbital flight in the Aurora 7 capsule, making the Breitling Cosmonaute the first chronograph watch used in space).
The wingwalking team are honoured to represent such an industry giant—they’ve even named one of their most daring stunts, the ‘Windrider Pass’, after the Breitling watch. The stunt involves the Wingwalkers leaving behind the safety of their static harnesses to sit on the leading edge of the 1940’s Stearman biplane, directly above the propeller, as they aircraft shoot over spectators at 100mph.
In keeping with their aeronautical specialty, Breitling watches are renowned for their precision timing, and the high quality of all the instruments they supply to professionals. And it isn’t hard to imagine just how important precision timing is when performing formation aerobatics at high speed.
