The Times of My Life – Jack Heuer

Almost every horological brand has a figurehead who stands for everything that the company in question represents. Some of these pioneers are individuals from a bygone age, and many, like Mr. Raymond Weil, have recently passed away. Others, such as Nick and Giles English, are at the very peak of their powers and influence, with many years of success still ahead of them. Still more have stepped down from the day-to-day running of their brands, but still remain heavily involved in other ways, and it can’t be denied that TAG Heuer’s Jack Heuer is one such esteemed luminary.

Last year, Jack Heuer – the grandson of TAG Heuer’s founder, Edouard Heuer – stepped down from his long-standing role as the honorary chairman of the company, but his role in TAG Heuer’s life story is far from forgotten. It’s fair to say that Jack Heuer’s storied career was not always an easy ride for him, as he famously saw his company slip through his fingers in the 1980s, but even so the highs far outweigh the lows. Jack Heuer was instrumental in bringing together TAG Heuer and Formula 1 in the 60s and 70s, but he was equally important when it came to making savvy marketing decisions and the like as well. During a 50-year career with this famous Swiss brand, you’d have to say that Jack Heuer’s vision was the perpetual guiding spirit, and it continues to be so even today.

Back in March, Heuer’s story was related to the world at large in the biographical writing The Times of my Life, but there’s always more to say about this giant in the field of ocular horology. To that end, TAG Heuer has distributed a 17-minute documentary that charters the crucial role that Jack Heuer played in the company’s fortunes over the years. It’s an inspiring tale, and if you’ve yet to watch the feature, it’s well worth your time. Of course, the supreme tribute to Jack Heuer’s tenure with TAG Heuer is undoubtedly the wristwatches that benefitted from his particular genius, including the now iconic TAG Heuer Carrera, which was introduced by Heuer himself in the 1960s.

The Carrera is indubitably one of TAG Heuer’s flagship timepieces, and it has become a mainstay in the years following its creation. Popularised even further by leading celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, the Carrera is available in a multitude of forms, including many special and limited editions, and a colossal array of these premier wristwatches are available right here at Banks Lyon Jewellers. In fact, when it comes to TAG Heuer watches of any kind, we have an unparalleled selection on offer for you to peruse.
