Our Spot in the Race
Sponsoring this £10,000 race was an easy decision for us. We understand the importance of supporting this opportunity for female jockeys, especially with the racing world still being a male-dominated sport. And, of course, we had a fantastic time in 2015 and couldn’t wait to do it all over again this year!
The race is open to both amateur and professional jockeys, and we’ll set up our stand near the parade ring, where race-goers will be able to browse our exquisite pieces, from watches to jewellery.
The Prize
The Lady Riders’ Handicap Hurdle Race provides support to the feature race, the £26,000 Totepool Cumbria Crystal Trophy Handicap Hurdle and Cartmel’s richest race of the season. To fully represent the passion and competitiveness this racecourse transmits, we carefully considered the prize we’d give away as an extra incentive to win the race.
In the end, the decision was simple, as we opted for a jewellery piece that symbolises the strength and brilliance of the riders themselves. On July 16, the winner will then receive a beautiful pendant made from 18ct white gold and set with seven magnificently cut diamonds, totalling 1.39ct with a single 0.30ct brilliant cut diamond sitting above the cluster.
This stunning piece is shaped like a flower, which gives it a classic, feminine look. We feel that this was the perfect choice and that the winner will love it just as much as we do.
Although typically the events at which diamonds are given away have names like ‘Ladies Day’, at Cartmel this fixture is called ‘Barbecue Meeting’, due to the multitude of BBQ events going on in the enclosures – and in which you can participate if you wish. The Cartmel racecourse events will end on July 18, and you can get the tickets for this day and the 16th at the entrance, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend!
