Lancaster On Ice is back – and Banks Lyon is sponsoring it once more.
We’re proud to support this fantastic event, which is now in its second year and is, certainly, bigger and better than 2018’s event. There is now a bigger ice rink, the Tipi Bar is back, and you can find more skate aids, as well as more delicious marshmallows to toast.
This amazing event went from being just a dream to a reality because of Hannah and Martin Horner, owners of the pub and restaurant The Borough on Dalton Square.
If you haven’t had the chance to visit Dalton Square yet, don’t miss out on this event, which will be around until January 5th.
Lancaster On Ice offers plenty of entertainment, from skating to food and drinks, so you’re spoilt for choice – and we guarantee you’ll have an unforgettable time with friends and family.
The Tipi Bar, for example, is perfect for a cosy gathering with your loved ones; during the day, this family hub, complete with fire-pits for toasting marshmallows and plenty of seats, is great to keep the chill away and enjoy quality time with the people most important to you. In the evening, the Tipi Bar offers a warm shelter with mulled wine and German beers ready to be sampled.
You will also have the opportunity to ride the giant wheel, something that will help you to create memories to last a lifetime on this year’s Lancaster on Ice. The Big Wheel, as it’s rightfully called, offers a beautiful view of the city, whether you’re riding it during the day or in the evening. It also provides a stunning backdrop for your photos.
Speaking of photos, you’re in for a treat if you go skating in this gorgeous winter wonderland. We’re offering the chance to win an amazing prize again, and all you have to do is take a picture.

Banks Lyon is Offering a TAG Heuer Watch
This year, and after the success of 2018’s event, we’re doing another competition, which is free to enter. Anyone can participate as well so, whether you’re new to skating or a whirling pro on the ice, take to the rink and be in with a chance of winning a luxury watch.
To enter our competition, you just need to:
- Tag @bankslyon with a photo of yourself in front of the Banks Lyon boards at the Lancaster On Ice rink.
- Share it using the hashtag #timetoskate.
The prize? If you win ‘best photo’, you’ll be able to choose either a gents’ or a ladies’ TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch worth £995.
The photo-board is available all day, every day – once all entries are in, we will choose the best picture and the winner will receive a superb TAG Heuer timepiece.
We’ll select the winner on 6 January 2020.
