Gucci first started watch designing in the early 1970s, and soon became one of the largest watch manufacturers in the world. The Gucci watches themselves, are made in Switzerland, the home of some of the most prestigious watch brands on the market today. The Gucci watch combines modern state of the art technology with traditional watch making, therefore creating cutting-edge and up to the minute timepieces.
The Bamboo collection of Gucci watches originates from 1940s Italy when there was a shortage of materials and Gucci had to improvise by using bamboo in their fashion design instead of hard-to-come-by materials such as leather. This makes the Gucci Bamboo watches, of which there are only 4 models in the entire collection, a unique and powerful range. Crafted from genuine bamboo and then burned and bent into a bangle shape, all have bold cases and can be accompanied by diamonds.
Guccis Chiodo collection of watches is based on the design of the square head nail, used by Gucci since the 1960s. This symbols origin comes from the equestrian world and is modelled on the nails used to hold a horse shoe on a horses hoof. In the Chiodo collection you can choose from a square or round case, which can feature a luminescent mother of pearl dial. The round case watch has a nail shaped bezel and bracelet with a date indictor and is available with diamonds set on the case or the bracelet. The square version can be found in solid gold or sterling silver and, again, can feature stunning diamonds.
The ever popular IGucci displays fashion attitude, with its large double layout and digital display, as well as sporty durability, boasting a broad rubber strap. It also has an impressive in international time zone function. The IGucci conveys style and functionality and can be worn with or without diamonds, you can even switch between analogue and digital displays on the larger models.
My personal favourite Gucci watch by far comes from the Signoria range. You can choose between small and large sizes, dial style and a variety of different bracelet variations. In particular, the model with the tigers eye dial and steel-black case with steel-black and 18ct yellow gold bracelet is particularly striking, and is undeniably unlike any fashion watch on the market.Â
