The Rolex Air King, part of the famous Rolex Oyster Perpetual line, is one of Rolex’s most historically significant timepieces due to it’s introduction during the Second World War when these watches were adopted by many aviators.
This model may attract those who have a respect and appreciation of history, as well as military aviation, as the model when first introduced was a popular watch with long distance fliers. Rolex became the brand of choice for pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain, and the model is still in production, equipped now with fully automatic movements and a water resistance of up to 100 metres.
The timelessness of the Rolex Air King and its perennial favourability among men wishing to convey strength and a sense of luxury is in-keeping with the Rolex brand. The brand’s reputation for producing durable and accurate timepieces is synonymous with its popularity, and this particular model carries with it a sense of continuing a proud tradition.
The entire Air King line has recently been revamped, and comes with a choice of three different bezels, such as a steel domed with white gold fluting bezel similar to those found in the Rolex Datejust.  A steel engine turned bezel is also available, which is particularly unusual and attractive, and is a feature only found in the Air King and Date watch lines. It also comes with a choice of three dial colours (black, white and blue) with either Arabic numerals, Roman numerals or a combination of Arabic numerals with stick markers. As it is an entry level watch, it is offered only with an all stainless steel Oyster bracelet, and as such cannot be ordered with a Jubilee or Presidents bracelet, or a gold Oyster bracelet.
Investment in a timepiece with the quality and history of the Rolex Air King is the best way of showing appreciation for its heritage.
