Smart Watch Options for Horological Connoisseurs

This year all eyes have been on the smart watches of big name tech firms, however for many of us who love the style and functionality of more classic luxury timepieces, they haven’t quite lived up to the hype. The most common concern has been that while displays hooked up to your mobile phone offer much to be excited about, they lose many of the more traditional features which we have come to expect from the stunning watches of brands such as Alpina and Breitling.

For some, the solution has been to wear both a smart watch and a chronograph, however for those of us who value aesthetics as much as we do practical concerns this hasn’t necessarily been a desirable possibility.

Luckily, thanks to the innovation of many brands including the two which I mentioned above, there is now a third possibility: options such as the Breitling B55 Connected Watch and the Alpina Horological Smart Watch offer the best features of both options, designed in a way which ensures that these two distinct styles come together in perfect harmony.

Breitling have described their B55 Connected Watch as the ‘ultimate pilot’s watch’, and this grand claim is clear demonstration of their dedication to creating a horological instrument which goes that extra mile.

With a specially developed quartz movement which provides far more accuracy and precision than traditional quartz as well as a long list of features which have been provided specifically with the active pilot in mind – such as the electronic tachometer and a vital chrono flight system which ensures that flight times and dates can be recorded with impeccable accuracy.

When it comes to visual appeal, Breitling have taken an unashamedly sporty and futuristic approach, with a vivid blue strap which strikes a dramatic contrast against the black titanium casing. The Breitling B-55 Connected Watch – Smartphone Enhancing Wristwatch, to give it its full title, is available from us here at Banks Lyon, however we are currently only providing the price on request.

Although slightly less conspicuous in its design, the Alpina Horological Smartwatch is no less impressive. As our senior manager Alex found out on his recent visit to the Alpina factory (more about that in the weeks coming weeks!),  Alpina’s dream was to make a watch which was both technologically advanced, and as appropriate for those with an active lifestyle as anything else in the collection.

Featuring the same high standard which they have come to be highly respected for within the watch-making world, this is a model which offers to enhance its wearer’s life with features such as the motion tracker and the sleep tracker.

The watch industry is truly an astounding thing, with innovators at the cutting edge of their craft, constantly endeavouring to bring new designs which are both a pleasure to wear and truly useful for those with specific needs. While the Banks Lyon store is closed for refurbishment you are still free to browse our collections of Alpina watches and Breitling watches at your leisure online; if you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch by calling 01524 38 48 58.
