Spotlight on the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph AMG Edition

IWC

IWC has a long history of innovation, precision and beautiful craftsmanship. IWC watches have a timeless design that feels fresh and modern while retaining that vintage appeal that attracts so many people to the brand.

IWC Pilot’s watches are no exception. The collection is inspired by aviation – more specifically, cockpit instruments – so it combines high performance and technology with style and precision. All timepieces IWC creates have undergone rigorous testing, so you can trust that they’re made to last a generation and more.

IWC Pilot’s Watches

This is one of IWC’s most popular collections, and it’s easy to see why. The brand’s Pilot’s watches pay homage to aviation by seamlessly blending function with design and have become an icon of watchmaking since their creation in 1936.

Suitable for both professional flyers and watch aficionados, the collection showcases cutting-edge technology and materials, as well as precision engineering and unmatched attention to detail – and, of course, it’s also made to withstand the pressure and impact of flying.

This prestigious range offers many different features that ensure the watches are among the best in the industry. In addition, you’ll find a great deal of variety when it comes to colours, materials and sizes, so you can easily purchase the watch that matches your lifestyle and personal preference.

The crown on the Pilot’s watches has a unique conical shape that pays tribute to the past, when pilots had to use their watches while wearing padded gloves.

The dials also resemble cockpit instruments, and the small triangle index in the 12 o’clock position allows you to quickly identify the position of the hands, which is crucial when piloting an aircraft. IWC understands that readability is crucial for pilots, so they’ve designed their watches in such a way that a simple glance tells you everything you need to know.

IWC And Mercedes-AMG

The Swiss watchmaker has been a Mercedes-AMG partner since 2004. This collaboration between industry giants has resulted in high-level performance and technology, which is clear in every watch IWC manufactures.

Mercedes-AMG is a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz and is responsible for cars that are incredibly high-performance and which use innovative materials, like carbon fibre. This sports car brand was founded in 1967, and its DNA lies in the racetrack.

Both companies share similar values, including a dedication to precision engineering and technical perfection, so you can expect a great new addition to the Pilot’s Watches collection.

As Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, says: “IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes-AMG share both a passion for performance and design, as well as a commitment to engineering excellence down to the smallest detail.

“Over the last 17 years of our partnership, IWC and AMG have shared exhilarating moments in motorsport and beyond, and we have created many lasting memories for our clients. Today we are proud to introduce Mercedes-AMG as a permanent feature of our Pilot’s Watch Collection, starting with the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “AMG”.

IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “AMG”

The new IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph is made from titanium, a first in the collection and an excellent material choice for a watch created in partnership with the sports car brand Mercedes-AMG. The piece uses racing-inspired materials and, according to IWC, “brings the style and adrenaline of motorsport to the wearer’s wrist”.

The light and scratch-resistance metal, as well as the sapphire crystal, ensures the longevity of the watch for a very long time, also allowing you to take it everywhere you go. From the skies to land, the chronograph is the perfect companion for your everyday adventures – not only is it sturdy and precise, but its classy and sophisticated design means it’s as much of a dress watch as it is a sports piece.

The 43mm case, the crown and the pushers are all made from Grade 5 titanium, a fantastic alloy also used in high-performance cars, such as those manufactured by Mercedes-AMG. Precision engineering at its best!

Also, the dial is made from black carbon fibre, a material you can find in the chassis of racing cars, which lends a beautiful woven pattern to the watch, almost like fabric. The silver-plated counter and the small seconds subdial at the 6 o’clock position offers a stunning contrast to the dark colours of the piece.

The model is powered by the in-house calibre 69385, known for its precision and durability; the most suitable movement for a watch made from titanium and inspired by the racetrack. This movement also allows stop time measurements of up to 12 hours, so you get a lot of versatility with this Pilot’s watch.

Whether you’re racing, cutting through the sky or even just hiking in the countryside, you can make use of the chronograph function, which is controlled by a column wheel. By doing this, you can easily measure your personal best time with the utmost accuracy.

As you turn the chronograph around, you’ll see the Mercedes-AMG logo on the back, a wonderful finishing touch to the sporty watch.
