Spotlight on the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m America’s Cup Watch

Since 1848, OMEGA has been manufacturing watches that are renowned for their precision, high performance and stylish design. The brand’s cutting-edge technology and focus on innovative watchmaking techniques have allowed it to become a titan of the industry, and the OMEGA Seamaster watches we stock are no exception.

The collection was first introduced in 1948 to commemorate OMEGA’s 100th anniversary and it became an instant success. Today, it’s still one of the brand’s most popular lines, highly sought after by people who enjoy a more adventurous lifestyle and want a sturdy watch that will last a lifetime.

Below, we go into more detail about the latest addition to the Seamaster family, a watch that pays homage to the 36th America’s Cup.

OMEGA Seamaster Watches

On top of being stylish, Seamaster watches are highly functional as well. Their durability and water resistance make them fantastic choices when it comes to professional – or hobby – diving and their accuracy has led to them becoming official timekeepers for events like the Olympic Games.

This doesn’t come as a surprise, especially when considering the sportier aesthetic that OMEGA chose for the Seamaster range. The diver-oriented features of the OMEGA Seamaster line allow wearers to take the watches with them wherever they go, including into deeper water. This is because each timepiece in the Seamaster line is sturdy and designed to withstand harsh environments.

The models have also been made with visibility in mind, so you can expect clear dials, calibrated rotating bezels and chronograph functions, as well as many other easy-to-use features. The collection is also suitable for people looking for a dress watch – while sporty, rugged pieces are common in the Seamaster, so are everyday watches that complement your wardrobe and style.

Just like other OMEGA collections, the Seamaster is characterised by high standards, precision and quality craftsmanship.

The America’s Cup

OMEGA is the official timekeeper for many events all over the world, including this sailing competition, which sees participants compete for the oldest trophy in international sport (dating back to 1851).

The America’s Cup history is a very interesting one and showcases a friendly competition between nations. It began when businessmen from New York sailed the schooner America across the Atlantic Ocean for the World’s Fair in England.

The schooner raced around the Isle of Wight against a fleet of British yachts, winning the £100 Cup. The USA won for 132 years in a row until 1983, an outstanding streak that showcased the Americans’ determination.

This sailing competition has had many popular backers over the years, including Sir Thomas Lipton, tea merchant, as well as many other icons of sailing, such as Peter Blake and Dennis Conner.

The 36th edition of the America’s Cup was presented by PRADA and occurred in March 2021, with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron team crowned the winner.

OMEGA was an integral part of the competition, providing accurate timekeeping to each step of the race. To commemorate OMEGA’s role as the Official Timekeeper of the 36th America’s Cup, the watchmaker released a Seamaster Diver 300m inspired by sailing and the ocean and made with pioneering technology.

We’re proud to be official stockists of OMEGA watches so, if you’re looking for the 36th America’s Cup edition or any other piece, we have it all at our Lancaster and Kendal stores.

Myles Harrison, manager at our Lancaster location, is also an OMEGA Grand Ambassador, a prestigious title awarded to only a few – this means we can answer any questions you may have about OMEGA and help you find the perfect watch for you or a loved one.
