Statement Jewellery Trends from the 2015 Emmy Awards

Last Sunday, the stars took to the red carpet in Los Angeles for the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Television favourites from Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Orange is the New Black and many others filled the Microsoft Theater for the ceremony.

The Emmys are, of course, not only an opportunity to recognise the leading talent in the entertainment industry but also a showcase for fashion and jewellery trends.

This year, many of the stars opted for statement earrings; attention-grabbing pendants and sparkling diamonds took centre stage. Orange is the New Black actress Taryn Manning wore sparkling star-shaped diamond-studded earrings, while Sarah Hyland, from Modern Family, wore natural ruby and diamond mesh earrings that perfectly complemented her dress.

For a similarly dazzling look, we love the Messika Dormeuses Plaque Drop Earrings, which feature dazzling pave set diamonds around a beautifully feminine 18ct gold butterfly plaque, available for £3,060 or 36 monthly payments of £68 with a 20% deposit. Alternatively, take a look at our 18ct White Gold 2.22ct Floral Diamond Earrings, which offer a striking yet delicate effect just like Manning’s stars.

Returning to Messika for a moment, fellow Modern Family actress Ariel Winter sported a Messika diamond ring, joining many of the stars who chose diamonds as their jewel of choice for the red carpet. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, of HBO’s series Veep, stood out in Chopard, with 28.78-carat diamond earrings set in platinum and almost 50 carats of diamonds gracing her bracelets.

Chopard are, of course, synonymous with elegant diamond design, perhaps best evoked by the Chopard Happy Diamonds collection; these exquisite pieces feature a trademark floating diamond, creating movement as well as sparkle. One example is the Chopard Miss Happy White Gold Ring, a lovely slim piece to flatter in 18ct white gold, available at £1,280 or 36 monthly payments of £28.44 and a 20% deposit. Moving diamonds are also found in the Messika Move Classique Jewellery range, such as their stunning 18ct white gold diamond pave ring, available at £9,890 or 36 monthly payments of £219.78 per month with a 20% deposit.

The metal of choice for many of the stars was platinum; this is of course a favourite with many designers as it offers a strong, durable hold for stones, and as it is naturally white it casts no tint on the stones, allowing them to shine in their own colours.

As mentioned earlier, Julia Louis-Dreyfus chose platinum Chopard earrings, whilst other stars in platinum included Lena Headey of Game of Thrones fame, with platinum and diamond earrings and ring, and David Oyelowo, nominated for his miniseries Nightingale, who sported a striking arrow-shaped platinum lapel pin in diamond and onyx, with matching cufflinks.

If platinum is for you, why not consider the Andrew Geoghegan 0.45ct Reveal Ring, which offers sublime contemporary design with a single central diamond set above a collection of tiny pave set diamonds, nestled within the clean lines of the ring’s bridge. This ring is available at £4,750 or 36 monthly payments of £105.56 with a 20% deposit.

For something a little more extravagant, we have a very special Platinum Pear Cut Tanzanite & Diamond Ring, at £5,635 or 36 monthly payments of £125.22 and a 20% deposit. This very striking ring boasts an impressive 3.18 carat Tanzanite stone with a double tier of Brilliant cut diamonds and diamond set shoulders, enhancing the vivid colour of the Tanzanite.
