TAG Heuer Welcome Expansion and New Chronograph Movement

Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer TAG Heuer has recently played host to a plethora of celebrities at their newly opened Paris Opera flagship boutique. This completely new 120m² installation stands resplendent in glass, steel and exotic timber, and is situated next to a space owned by Cartier on the renowned ‘Triangle d’Or’. The CEO of TAG Heuer, Stéphane Linder, welcomed a multitude of iconic names in the world of acting, music, fashion, politics and motor racing to celebrate not only the opening of the new boutique, but also the 50th anniversary of the now legendary TAG Heuer Carrera watches. Joined by premium TAG Heuer ambassador Leonardo DiCaprio, the event and accompanying party served to display the prestige that TAG Heuer has built up throughout its 150 year history.

The Carrera family was first introduced by TAG Heuer in 1963, and it has developed an unparalleled reputation for innovation due to many years of subsequent reimagining. With models that are ideally optimised to suit both a male and female audience, the range has always been among TAG Heuer’s most distinguished collections, and many limited or special edition timepieces are constantly being added to these already prominent ranks. The Special Edition TAG Heuer Jack Heuer Edition Carrera Calibre 1887 is one of the latest of these offerings to be released in conjunction with the Carrera’s 50th birthday, and this precedent for consummate quality in all Carrera watches looks set to continue for many years to come.

Not content with these twin milestones, TAG Heuer has also seen fit to introduce a new chronograph movement. The TAG Heuer Calibre 1887 was launched in 2009 to great acclaim, and now the brand name has proudly unveiled the Calibre 1969 to join its illustrious predecessor. The very first automatic chronograph movement was pioneered by TAG Heuer in 1969 and, housed within the original TAG Heuer Monaco watches, this mechanism and its successors have formed the cornerstone for TAG Heuer’s subsequent development into the largest industrial chronograph producer of all time. The Calibre 1887 and 1969 are expected to achieve a target capacity of a staggering 100,000 units in as little as 3 years time, and this duopoly signifies that TAG Heuer has no intention of relinquishing its status as one of the primary innovators in the horological world.

TAG Heuer is already well represented on a global scale, but with a veritable fleet of new flagships set to be constructed in Beijing, Honolulu, London, Macau, Madrid, Milan, Singapore and San Francisco, this esteemed brand name is experiencing a pronounced level of global success. This achievement has been built upon the sensation caused by their chronograph watches, and here at Banks Lyon we are proud to stock a huge assortment of TAG Heuer watches that encompasses their entire array of collections, and all of these luxury timepieces are fully registered with the brand name itself.
