Dipping a toe into the world of horology can be a daunting process, a metaphorical minefield with a host of brands and different designs to choose from. We appreciate that for the modern gentlemen time is very precious, and it would be our pleasure to give you a whistle-stop tour of a few of our personal favourites, some (or all) of which we feel should be in a modern watch collection.
To contrast and complement the rugged sportiness of the Omega, my next watch has been picked from the world-famous Cartier Tank collection. Our third choice comes from the Swiss behemoth Breitling, who are one of the forefathers of the modern chronograph movement, and a stalwart of the watchmaking industry. The iconic Breitling Navitimer, with its famous circular slide rule, has been aiding pilots in their navigation since 1952. The model we have chosen pays homage to that original model in a number of ways, but perhaps most importantly to the modern gentlemen, will look great on the wrists of almost all of us, due to its 42mm case size.
No modern watch collection is complete without a statement piece or a watch that divides opinion, and no watch brand does this more successfully than Hublot. In their Big Bang model, Hublot has brought together different materials which have not been together since the formation of our universe. The combination of steel, ceramic, rubber and sapphire crystal come together to create this showstopper, which will be sure to get you noticed!
