Pre-Basel 2013 Release from Tissot: The Heritage Navigator 160th Anniversary

To celebrate their 160th anniversary, Swiss Watch Brand Tissot has released the Tissot Heritage Navigator; a modern and very classy looking update of their 1953 Navigator Worldtimer created to mark Tissot’s centenary.

Thankfully the brand has retained all the features and details of the 53’ model in a bid to stay ahead of what’s set to be a big year for clean, classic strap watches at this year’s Baselworld Fair.

The new Heritage Navigator for 2013 reflects Tissot’s love of new horizons. Still based in their original workshops in Le Locle, Tissot is now represented across five continents, in 160 countries, and is the largest traditional Swiss watch brand based on volume.

“The Tissot Heritage Navigator with its 24 time zones indicated by the Capital Cities of their countries on the dial perfectly illustrates that travelling spirit with an everlasting classic look.”

Housed in a 43mm steel case is the automatic, COSC certified 2893 worldtimer movement from ETA. While this case is considerably larger than the 1953 Navigator, which had a case size of just 36mm, the styling of the watch is very similar, save a few of the countries have been changed in favour of more modern cities. The watch also features a sapphire exhibition case back – to show off the movement.

The hands , the 12 hour bezel and the 24 hour ring are all very similar to the original watch – a glowing tribute to a watch that is the perfect illustration of Tissot’s heritage and beliefs in tradition and the evolution of watch technology. This watch is available in both a black dial and a silver dial, on a black or brown leather strap with folding clasp and push buttons.

“The Tissot Heritage Navigator has that vintage class as well as being the modern man’s business tool”

160 years of watch making further cements Tissot as one of the forerunners of watch making. The company has always aimed to provide its clients with indespensible tools of precision and this new release for Baselworld 2013 shows that this is still the case today.
