Breitling SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Watch

Breitling News & Releases

With Georges Kern at the helm, Breitling has entered a new era. While the brand will still retain its core DNA and will stay true to its heritage, Breitling will also explore new possibilities. Kern intends to drive the watchmaker forward into the future and, in essence, to have a focus on expanding the current portfolio, enter new markets and transform Breitling’s aesthetics.

The updated SuperOcean Héritage line is a fantastic example of this new direction. The collection commemorates over 60 years of Breitling diver watches with a stunning design, timeless yet contemporary appeal and state-of-the-art technology.

Breitling SuperOcean Héritage Collection

Founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Breitling is world-renowned for their technical expertise, clearly showcased in their precision-made chronometers. The Swiss watchmaker has been conquering the skies and the oceans for 135 years with its aviator and diver models and is one of the only brands to ensure each of its watches come with chronometer-certified movements.

The SuperOcean Héritage range meets and excels these demanding standards. The line combines elegance with functionality to offer C.O.S.C.-certified chronometers that are water resistant up to 200 metres. With each model in the collection, Breitling pays homage to the sophisticated model of the 1950s while updating it with a distinctive look and cutting-edge technology.

Of course, the collection also offers the excellent performance we’ve come to expect from the brand. In the range, there is also a chronograph version with two different bracelet options, steel mesh or rubber; also, the sheer variety of choices available in this collection include a multitude of strap styles, dial colours and case diameters.

Each model in the range has been designed with the modern gent in mind, someone who appreciates sophisticated watches with a rich history and an understated appeal – while also being passionate about high-tech features. Perfect for the office or a day out exploring nature, the sleek and robust SuperOcean Héritage line celebrates Breitling’s strong connection to the ocean while offering divers precisely what they’re looking for simultaneously.

A screw-down crown and unidirectional bezel are of the utmost importance for diving professionals, both of which are present in the SuperOcean Héritage line. The 120-tooth system in the bezel turns counterclockwise only, another essential feature for divers, as it makes it impossible to increase the dive time inadvertently.

The stylish design, sleeker fit and luxury finish of the redesigned bezel take the range to new heights, especially when accompanied by a beautifully polished stainless-steel case or a blue dial. The SuperOcean Héritage watches are daring yet modest, bold yet discreet – ideal for all occasions, from the most mundane to the special.

Just like other Breitling watches, the ones in the Héritage range are also equipped with powerful movements; the Calibre 23 and the Calibre 17 are just a couple but easily showcase why these models are remarkable. The movements are durable and strong, tested under the most rigorous conditions and perfect to be worn every single day.

SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Limited Edition Watch

Breitling’s partnership with conservation group Ocean Conservancy has led to the creation of the vintage-inspired SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Limited Edition watch. This piece was launched in Bali with the support of brand ambassador Surfers Squad, a team linked to the SuperOcean collection; in attendance were professional surfers (and members of this team) Kelly Slater, Sally Fitzgibbons and Stephanie Gilmore. The launch event also had the support of Ocean Conservancy.

Together with these organisations, Breitling put together a beach clean-up on May 10, 2019, to commemorate the release of the new timepiece. 100 Breitling guests and around 700 hundred volunteers from Bali and surrounding regions attended this event and cleared hundreds of kilos of trash and plastic from the beach.

American surfer Kelly Slater believes that the beach is her and other surfers’ office. She goes on to say: ‘What we have seen here on beaches and in oceans around the world is shocking, and I would like to thank Breitling and ocean Conservancy for their shared fight against plastic pollution. Everyone can contribute to a cleaner environment – for ourselves and for future generations’.

Limited to only 1,000 worldwide, the new addition to the SuperOcean line emphasises Breitling’s commitment to the organisation and displays a gorgeous white dial with blue ceramic bezel, reminiscent of beautiful – and healthy – ocean water. The important message of the chronograph appeals to many, from divers and surfers to explorers and watch aficionados.

Georges Kern admires the work done by Ocean Conservancy since its inception in 1972. He says: ‘As global corporate citizens, we are thrilled to be able to support Ocean Conservancy’s mission of maintaining a healthy ocean. The organisation has an impressive track record of accomplishment, mobilising millions in support of healthy beaches, and is passionate in its fight for our ocean, its wildlife and coastal communities.’

Janis Searles Jones, CEO of Ocean Conservancy, is happy to work with the luxury watchmaking brand as well. She says: ‘We are all proud to be able to work with Breitling. The new SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition watch is stunning, and we are thrilled that this partnership contributes to our important work to keep plastic and trash out of our oceans.’

The features of the fantastic SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Limited Edition watch genuinely make this a superb model. The 44m stainless steel bracelet and the beautiful silver dial offer a stunning contrast to the blue NATO strap made of ECONYL® yarn. This material is innovative and eco-friendly and has been repurposed from nylon waste; one source is the fishing nets that litter oceans around the world. These straps are incredibly durable and can be recycled indefinitely. The packaging you receive when you purchase this brilliant watch is also made from 100% recycled material.

The cambered scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is glare-proof on both sides, ensuring the best visibility under any weather condition, including sunlight. The silver-coloured dial and baton hour markers are a striking detail that allow the day and date window complication at 3 o’clock to stand out. The watch also comes with three chronograph sub-dials and is powered by Breitling’s chronometer-certified Calibre 13 self-winding mechanical movement.

Each piece has an engraving on the back of the case with the ocean Conservancy logo and the limited-edition “1 of 1000” inscription. The unidirectional bezel is exceptionally durable, as well as scratch- and shock-resistant, and has a luminescent central dot at 12 o’clock coated with Super-LumiNova®. This luminescence is blue instead of the usual green and helps to improve visibility for divers in dark environments.

A very comfortable watch that can be worn by everyone, including those with smaller wrists. The beautiful design of the model, the two-tone bracelet and the gleaming dial all come together to create a stunning aesthetic that even the most hard-to-please watch enthusiasts are sure to love.

Breitling will contribute proceeds from the sale of this limited-edition model to conserving the oceans by supporting projects such as the Bali beach clean-up.
