Breitling SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Watch

With Georges Kern at the helm, Breitling has entered a new era. While the brand will still retain its core DNA and will stay true to its heritage, Breitling will also explore new possibilities. Kern intends to drive the watchmaker forward into the future and, in essence, to have a focus on expanding the current portfolio, enter new markets and transform Breitling’s aesthetics.

The updated Breitling SuperOcean Héritage line is a fantastic example of this new direction. The collection commemorates over 60 years of the Breitling Superocean diver watches with a stunning design, timeless yet contemporary appeal and state-of-the-art technology.

Breitling SuperOcean Héritage Collection

Founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Breitling is world-renowned for their technical expertise, clearly showcased in their precision-made chronometers. The Swiss watchmaker has been conquering the skies and the oceans for 135 years with its aviator and diver models and is one of the only brands to ensure each of its watches come with chronometer-certified movements.

The SuperOcean Héritage range meets and excels these demanding standards. The line combines elegance with functionality to offer C.O.S.C.-certified chronometers that are water resistant up to 200 metres. With each model in the collection, Breitling pays homage to the sophisticated model of the 1950s while updating it with a distinctive look and cutting-edge technology.

Of course, the collection also offers the excellent performance we’ve come to expect from the brand. In the range, there is also a chronograph version with two different bracelet options, steel mesh or rubber; also, the sheer variety of choices available in this collection include a multitude of strap styles, dial colours and case diameters.

Each model in the range has been designed with the modern gent in mind, someone who appreciates sophisticated watches with a rich history and an understated appeal – while also being passionate about high-tech features. Perfect for the office or a day out exploring nature, the sleek and robust SuperOcean Héritage line celebrates Breitling’s strong connection to the ocean while offering divers precisely what they’re looking for simultaneously.

A screw-down crown and unidirectional bezel are of the utmost importance for diving professionals, both of which are present in the SuperOcean Héritage line. The 120-tooth system in the bezel turns counterclockwise only, another essential feature for divers, as it makes it impossible to increase the dive time inadvertently.

The stylish design, sleeker fit and luxury finish of the redesigned bezel take the range to new heights, especially when accompanied by a beautifully polished stainless-steel case or a blue dial. The SuperOcean Héritage watches are daring yet modest, bold yet discreet – ideal for all occasions, from the most mundane to the special.

Just like other Breitling watches, the ones in the Héritage range are also equipped with powerful movements; the Calibre 23 and the Calibre 17 are just a couple but easily showcase why these models are remarkable. The movements are durable and strong, tested under the most rigorous conditions and perfect to be worn every single day.

SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Limited Edition Watch

Breitling’s partnership with conservation group Ocean Conservancy has led to the creation of the vintage-inspired SuperOcean Héritage Ocean Conservation Limited Edition watch. This piece was launched in Bali with the support of brand ambassador Surfers Squad, a team linked to the SuperOcean collection; in attendance were professional surfers (and members of this team) Kelly Slater, Sally Fitzgibbons and Stephanie Gilmore. The launch event also had the support of Ocean Conservancy.

Together with these organisations, Breitling put together a beach clean-up on May 10, 2019, to commemorate the release of the new timepiece. 100 Breitling guests and around 700 hundred volunteers from Bali and surrounding regions attended this event and cleared hundreds of kilos of trash and plastic from the beach.

American surfer Kelly Slater believes that the beach is her and other surfers’ office. She goes on to say: ‘What we have seen here on beaches and in oceans around the world is shocking, and I would like to thank Breitling and ocean Conservancy for their shared fight against plastic pollution. Everyone can contribute to a cleaner environment – for ourselves and for future generations’.
