What Next For Maria Sharapova?

Tennis fans are still reeling from the exit of Maria Sharapova from Wimbledon five days ago. It only prompts one question: what will the former world number one do now?

When interviewed about her shock defeat, she said, “It’s frustrating. You certainly don’t want to lose matches, I mean, whether it’s early or late.” She’s determined to keep upbeat, however- “I’m going to keep my head high about it because there’s no other way” she said.

Ever since her first Grand Slam victory in 2004, she has shown herself as formidable in the business world as she is on the court. It was that year she began her long running partnership with TAG Heuer, embodying their motif of passion through performance. One of the fruits of this collaboration went beyond her love of TAG Heuer watches as she was instrumental in helping design a bespoke pair of sunglasses for the company. Almost as elegant as Sharapova herself, they remain one of the most sought after items in the collection. The TAG Heuer timepiece range has the  same hallmarks. Why not view our range of TAG Heuer watches?

Sharapova’s business interests don’t end with TAG. Other lucrative endorsements include Porsche, Nike, Cole Haan, Evian and Samsung. Perhaps the most interesting item in her portfolio is her own brand of sweets, called Sugarpova.

As she stated, “I always think it’s nice to find an athlete who has different interests, that go beyond what they did in their sport. I think that’s a really nice quality, because they don’t just finish their career and think, ‘What am I going to do now?”

Whatever path her future career takes, we wish her every success. As great tennis fans here we'll be keeping up with all the latest from Wimbledon on our official Banks Lyon Twitter, so be sure to take a look to stay up to date with everything watches and Wimbledon.
