Which OMEGA watch is the best investment? Top 5 Watches

By Maxine

If you’ve been thinking about taking the plunge into luxury horology, there’s hardly a better place to start than OMEGA. Starting in 1848, OMEGA has been a pioneer of the watchmaking industry, introducing groundbreaking features such as the first automatic movement to use two weights.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through the five OMEGA models that truly stand out, explain which OMEGA watch is the best investment, and help you decide which one aligns with your lifestyle and taste.

1. OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch

The Speemaster Moonwatch is the definitive collector’s chronograph. If you’re unsure which OMEGA watch to buy, this is where I’d start.

The Moonwatch is a pure expression of the Speedmaster lineage. Manually wound, balanced dial, and a timeless bezel make this watch one that doesn’t need reinvention, because it got it right the first time.

From an investment perspective, it’s historic and globally recognisable, with a timeless 42mm size. OMEGA has recently added two new designs to the range: one in stainless steel and one in 18K Moonshine™ Gold, giving you two options to start your search.

2. OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M

The OMEGA Seamaster collection represents OMEGA’s mastery of dive watches, and the Diver 300M is arguably its most recognisable modern reference.

On the surface, this watch sells itself as a diver’s watch, boasting a 300m water resistance and SuperLumiNova™ features, yet has also been worn by the likes of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig in their James Bond appearances.

It’s got a great selection of ceramic bezel and dial options, a strong wrist presence without feeling bulky, and an everyday durability that’ll see you from weekend hikes to meetings in the office.

For those drawn in by the cultural significance of this watch, I’d go for one of the “007 Edition” models, such as this version that sports a brown tropical bezel and dial, in honour of the No Time To Die film.

3. OMEGA Speedmaster ‘57

Another iteration of the Speedmaster story, but with a slightly more distinctive design, the OMEGA Speedmaster ‘57 is my pick. It nods to the original 1957 design but incorporates modern elements and movement technology. The Speedmaster’s been a part of all six lunar missions, making it a difficult one to compete with in terms of history.

It’s got a cleaner, slightly dressy dial aesthetic, vintage-inspired charm, and smaller, more wearable proportions, coming in at around 40.5mm for the case size.

For an enthusiast who wants heritage on the wrist, I’d recommend this OMEGA Speedmaster 57 Chronograph 40.5mm. The brown leather strap gives comfort and the retro-inspired appearance that many collectors are looking for in this range of watches. It’s also equipped with the Co-Axial Master Chronometer for a little extra precision.

This is for the enthusiast who wants heritage, and it’s less common on the wrist, which adds an exclusivity you’ll appreciate.

4. OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra

If your lifestyle leans more towards the boardroom, the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra deserves serious attention. It sits within the Seamaster family, but trades dive-tool ruggedness for clean symmetry and elegance. This is also where OMEGA thrives in Ladies’ watches, with options laced in diamonds and feminine proportions.

For the men’s watches, they’ve often got a teak-pattern dial inspired by yacht decking, strong water resistance, balanced proportions for daily wear and a suitability for formal and casual settings. From an investment standpoint, the Aqua Terra is about longevity. It’s the kind of watch you buy once and wear for decades.

5. OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean

If you prefer a more substantial wrist presence, I’d divert your attention to the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean. It’s technically impressive and visually assertive, with a more tool-oriented construction. For underwater adventures, these watches can handle themselves up to 2,000 feet underwater, with the Ultra Deep models capable of 20,000 feet - a truly unmatchable feat.

For an aesthetic that’s more sport-forward and a heavier feel, the Planet Ocean offers a superb selection, from bold orange variants to those with a more classic and subtle look. No matter your Planet Ocean of choice, you’re guaranteed to get a dependable watch that’ll stand the tests of time - and the ocean.
