Back in the 1930’s, an already well established TAG Heuer released the TAG Heuer Autavia collection. As one of the first of it’s kind, the TAG Heuer Autavia was targeted as a stopwatch for automobiles, aviation and zeppelins The name TAG Heuer Autavia, a unique mix of the words automobile and aviation.
With incredible accuracy to 1/5th of a second, the TAG Heuer Autavia was originally released as a rally dash timer.
Fast forward to the 1960’s when Jack Heuer became CEO, the Autavia was redesigned as a wrist chronograph. This newer design featured the first rotating bezel for TAG Heuer, with a choice of 12-hour or 60-minute markings.
Though with a new look, the TAG Heuer Autavia was still designed with drivers in mind and was worn famously by many well known drivers including Jo Siffert, who would later become an ambassador for the TAG Heuer Autavia.
In 2019, the latest TAG Heuer Autavia collection was released. Though modern and updated, the design of a TAG Heuer Autavia watch remains inspired by the original models.
