IWC Pilot’s Chronograph ‘Le Petit Prince’ Watch

IWC

Since their inception in 1868, IWC have stood out for their pioneering spirit, their focus on creating the most precise of movements, their superb craftsmanship and their timeless design. We’re proud to be official stockists for IWC watches, as we offer a wide range of timepieces from this brand, including IWC Pilot’s Watches, a collection that celebrates the partnership between IWC and aviation.

Combining performance, technology and style, this family of watches, which dates back to the 1930s, is one of the most popular from IWC. Quality has always been key to IWC, as each of their timepieces, including their Pilot’s watches, undergo extensive testing, such as impact and abrasion tests.

IWC Pilot’s Watches

IWC is committed to continuing pioneering horological innovations, as the brand always looks to the future. IWC Pilot’s Watches are renowned for their cockpit-instrument aesthetic, as well as for their unmatched precision and superb technology. For more than 80 years, this prestigious collection has been favoured by both pilots and watch enthusiasts alike, who appreciate the precision engineering, as well as attention to detail, used in each model.

This range is characterised by distinctive features which not only allows it to stand apart in the horology world, but it also ensures that these timepieces are among the best when it comes to performance.

Some of the design highlights of the collection include a large conical crown, which is reminiscent of the pioneering days of aviation; the size of the crown makes it easier to grip and set even when a pilot is wearing thick gloves and a padded flight suit. Some of the watches in the collection also come with luminescent displays for increased visibility, even in adverse conditions – the dials are also stripped back to the bare essentials, which further improves this visibility.

The triangular index at 12 o’clock is also a famous feature found in the watches of this range. This design choice allows pilots to quickly recognise the position of the hands and the time with a mere glance, especially with the two dots on either side of the triangle, which contributes to readability.

Style and functionality work together flawlessly in this collection, with the classic, yet forward-thinking and contemporary, timepieces boasting the finest materials and the most sophisticated of complications – perfect for even the most demanding of watch aficionados.

The ‘Le Petit Prince’ Range

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote one of the most iconic stories in the world and one of the best-selling books in literary history. Translated into more than 300 languages, ‘The Little Prince’ (or ‘Le Petit Prince’) is the most famous work created by the French flying pioneer and author. Since 2013, IWC have partnered with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s descendants to craft exclusive special edition Pilot’s Watch models as tributes to the story. Each model in the range features a trademark blue dial.

Saint-Exupéry considered writing and flying to be two sides of the same coin, so the ‘Le Petit Prince’ editions are the perfect match, since they also combine poetry with technology.

IWC Pilot’s Chronograph Edition ‘Le Petit Prince’ Watch

The IWC Pilot’s Chronograph Edition ‘Le Petit Prince’ watch is available at Banks Lyon for £5,650 or from £94.17 per month at 0% finance.

This ‘Le Petit Prince’ model offers precision, performances, reliability and style. The robust 79320-calibre chronograph movement, which handles single stop times and aggregate timing up to 12 hours, is optimally shielded against the influence of magnetic fields due to the soft-iron inner case.

This self-winding automatic movement comes with 44 hours of power reserve and is protected by a convex sapphire crystal case which has a hardness grade of 9 on the Mohs’ scale; this ensures the watch continues to perform flawlessly.

Even if there’s a drop in pressure, which can occur at high altitudes, the sapphire case will remain securely in place on the timepiece. In addition, the glass is also treated with an anti-reflective coating for protection against light glares.

The model is water-resistant up to 6 bar and is sold with an elegant stainless-steel bracelet. On the caseback, you can find an engraving of the little prince with his cape and sword.

The 43mm stainless-steel watch case, as well as the stainless-steel bracelet, further contribute to the reliability and lifespan of the watch, as this material is incredibly durable. The bracelet can be easily adjusted to your wrist as well, as the watch allows for the removal or addition of individual bracelet links.

A stunning watch that IWC fans will not want to miss out on.
