The Breitling Chronospace Military

Breitling continues to impress with this year’s timepieces, and it’s always a pleasure for us to take a look at a wristwatch that’s a little bit out of the ordinary. That’s exactly what we’re able to do today, as the Breitling Chronospace Military conforms to an electric chronograph pattern; a style of wristwatch that we rarely encounter, but that has become something of a signature for Breitling. This is one Swiss manufacturer that has never chosen to shrink from bold and potentially divisive designs, so the aesthetic of the new Chronospace sits very well alongside their established themes.

Like so many Breitling watches over the years, the Chronospace Military is destined to be heavily relied upon by practising pilots, and many of its features are purposely created to sit well alongside the requirements of such individuals. For example, given the fact that pilots typically wear gloves whilst flying, the star-shaped rotating bezel will doubtless prove to be an invaluable augmentation. Along the same line, the screens on the Chronospace have been fully backlit to facilitate use even during the night-time, whilst a plethora of additional functions are equally utile.

These capabilities include, but are not limited to, a 1/100th of a second chronograph, an alarm, a countdown timer and even a dual time-zone that boasts Coordinated Universal Time. Clearly then, the Chronospace is equipped to excel. Unless you’re familiar with Breitling’s ways, the precision time display may not look too dissimilar when compared to any run-of-the-mill electric watch display, but when you learn that it’s certified to COSC chronometer standards, you realise that this timepiece is an ideal companion for even the most demanding of circumstances.

A lot of horological connoisseurs are thoroughly enjoying the prevailing trend which is giving rise to so many sleek black-coloured wristwatches of late, and the Chronospace military will certainly appeal to such persons. This appearance is achieved through the use of a carbon-based treatment over steel casing, and it results in an undeniably crisp looking chronometer. Furthermore, it also allows the compass scale to be outlined with exceptional clarity. The dial is equipped with luminous numerals and hour-markers to continue this readability, whilst the enlarged hands have been implemented for the exact same purpose.

For a mechanical watch aficionado, the Chronospace may seem to fall down as a result of its quartz movement, yet that objection misses the point that this is no ordinary quartz mechanism. Breitling’s SuperQuartz™ movements are ten times more accurate than a standard quartz timekeeper, so they surrender absolutely nothing in terms of performance, and you’d have to say that, in terms of sheer practicality, such a device would take some bettering. To finish, Breitling have provided their customary choice of straps, including an anthracite or khaki-coloured fabric fastening, or a steel mesh bracelet to attain a classically Breitling appearance.

Here at Banks Lyon, we have two versions of the Chronospace Military for sale. The first of these watches is the Breitling Chronospace Military Khaki strap watch, and this variant retails for £4,260 or 36 monthly payments of £94.67 alongside a 20% deposit. If you prefer the all-black aesthetic, then the Breitling Chronospace Military Ocean Classic, on offer for £4,940 or 36 monthly payments of £109.78 and a 20% deposit, may be more to your taste. If you’d like to find out more about these timepieces, or indeed learn more about any of our other Breitling Professional watches, be sure to contact us now by calling 01524 38 48 58 or emailing [email protected].
