Strong ties to military aviation and the superior quality of design associated with Bremont watches have set this relatively young English brand apart from their contemporaries. Their intense precision, stunning, yet pragmatic design and the intricacies of their hand-assembled movements make Bremont watches extremely desirable timepieces for both men and ladies.
Founded in 2002 in Henley-on-Thames by brothers Nick and Giles English, Bremont gained its name from a particularly interesting encounter. In the late 1990s, the brothers were forced to land in a field in France as bad weather affected their 1930’s biplane. The farmer, who’s field the brothers landed in came to the brothers’ aid and allowed them to hide their plane in his barn until the bad weather passed. Both Nick and Giles vowed to repay the farmer for his kindness, and when the brand was founded in the early 2000s, the pair decided to name the brand in honour of that French farmer, Antoine Bremont.
It wasn’t until 2007, five years after Bremont was founded that the company launched its first luxury watch collection. Launching the iconic Bremont Martin Baker collection, Bremont showcased their commitment to creating timepieces made to withstand the most extreme circumstances, a trait that sets them apart from many other watch manufacturers in the market today. The collection pays homage to British aviation company, Martin-Baker, a company responsible for supplying over 70% of the world’s Air Forces with fighter jet ejection seat technology.
Aviation is a reoccurring theme throughout the Bremont watches collections, prominently exhibited in families such as the Bremont Boeing. Brand founders and brothers, Nick and Giles English, are keen aviation enthusiasts, so it is little wonder that this theme abounds throughout their work. For example, the illustrious Bremont ALT1 collection utilises design elements that pay homage to the instrument dials of vintage warplanes.
Inspired by historic aircraft and mechanical movements, Bremont has perfectly designed and manufactured timepieces that can withstand and exceed the usual missions and routines of the wearer. From concept to creation, ladies and men’s Bremont watches encompass incredible attention to detail and are hand-built in limited numbers to ensure the very highest levels of quality and craftsmanship.

Although Bremont’s designs are gender-neutral, some watches from collections such as the Bremont Solo are widely considered to be ladies’ watches and favoured by women due to more modest case sizes. Celebrating the success of iconic individuals is an inspiration often seen in the creation of Bremont watches, and this is represented in the Solo 32 range. Not only does this range of ladies’ chronometers see a new 32mm case, but it is also named in honour of Amy Johnson, a pioneering English aviator being the first female to fly alone from Britain to Australia. Lettice Curtis, a female English aviator and flight test engineer during the Second World War, is also celebrated in this classic looking collection of treasured timepieces.
Here at Banks Lyon, we carry a fine selection of watches in this range that are suitable for both men and ladies, all of which can be viewed in our award-winning Lancaster showroom.
