Hublot watches made their first appearance in the watchmaking industry in 1976 by Carlo Crocco, the Hublot watch was marked as the revolutionary era of the ‘Fusion’ concept. Originally working to produce Italian Briel watches, Crocco left the Binda Group dynasty in 1975 to start his own company.
In 1980, Hublot debuted at the Basel watch fair. Whilst this wasn’t a commercial success initially as the watch saw no orders placed at the event itself. But in the following months, the brand saw great success with over $2million worth of products being ordered.
Hublot, translating to the French word for ‘porthole’, made history by being one of the first watchmaking companies to incorporate a natural rubber strap into the design of many of its watches.
In 2005, Hublot revealed the Big Bang chronograph, which propelled the company forward in a whole host of areas.
