The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 50th Anniversary, Reference IW328910, celebrates five decades since Gérald Genta created the Ingenieur SL Reference 1832 in 1976. Limited to 1,150 pieces, this commemorative edition combines the distinctive integrated-bracelet architecture of Genta’s original luxury sports watch with the refined proportions and engineering of IWC’s modern Ingenieur collection. Its defining feature is a brushed silver-plated dial inspired by a rare version of the original Ingenieur SL. Rhodium-plated hands and applied hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova provide contrast and legibility, while a subtle anniversary detail replaces the traditional lightning-bolt emblem beneath the Ingenieur name with the number “50”.

The 40 mm stainless steel case measures 10.8 mm in height and retains the sculptural, functional bezel that has become one of the signatures of the IWC Ingenieur. Five screws secure the satin-finished bezel to the case, while polished edges add definition to its distinctive geometry. The integrated stainless steel bracelet is satin-finished and uses a butterfly folding clasp, continuing the seamless visual transition from case to bracelet that is central to the Ingenieur design. A convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, while water resistance is rated to 10 bar.

Inside the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 50th Anniversary is the IWC-manufactured calibre 32111, an automatic movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivering an impressive 120-hour power reserve. Its double-pawl winding system is complemented by a soft-iron inner case that protects the movement from magnetic fields, directly referencing the anti-magnetic engineering credentials of the original Ingenieur SL. The result is a limited-edition IWC sports watch that combines Gérald Genta’s enduring 1970s design language with contemporary mechanical performance and everyday wearability.
