Alpina Reveal the Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph Big Date

One of the most prominent challenges for any maker of sports watches is the diver’s watch; not only does it need to be clear and efficient in its design, but it also needs to be capable of withstanding the literal pressures of the sport.

In 1969, Alpina introduced the Alpina Diver 10 Seastrong, their first diver’s watch, with a water-resistant capability up to 200m. Now, the Swiss watchmakers have introduced the latest in the Seastrong range, the Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph Big Date.

Like the existing range of Alpina Seastrong Diver watches, this professional diving chronograph is designed to be water resistant to no less than 300m. Bearing in mind that light only penetrates to around 200m, and that only a handful of world-record breaking scuba divers have exceeded the 240m mark, this capability should be sufficient for almost any wearer!

At such depths, time is of vital importance to the diver; they must know how much air they have remaining in their tanks, and must carefully time their stops on the ascent to avoid decompression sickness. The Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph Big Date offers a failsafe feature in that its aluminium turning bezel is unidirectional; it turns only anti-clockwise so that the number of elapsed minutes can never be accidentally decreased, only increased. In addition, the chronograph features luminous markers, hands and dial indexes, offering excellent contrast against the matt black dial for maximum clarity in low visibility. The minute hand is oversized, making it easier to read diving times safely.

The watch uses the extremely reliable and precise AL-372 1/10th of sec. Swiss quartz chronograph movement, featuring 30 and 10 hour chronograph counters, add and split functions, and the prominent big date.

As well as being a practical piece of equipment for the professional or leisure diver, this stunning timepiece is a stylish option for everyday wear. The range offers four models, each with a different bezel colour – Bordeaux, grey, navy blue and striking orange. The 44mm stainless cushion shaped steel case, scratch-resistant crystal and robust, water-resistant genuine leather strap all add to both functionality and aesthetics, to create an ideal watch for the diving enthusiast.

At Banks Lyon, we are proud to be able to supply superb chronographs and time pieces for even the most demanding of sports.
