A History Inspired from the Passion from The Ocean

Though one of the most recent additions that prove their superiority in the ocean exploration, the Omega Seamaster Plant Ocean Collection can already be recognised as a modern classic. Much like the ocean that covers two thirds of the planet, the passion Omega has for the ocean is still and has always been boundless. Founded far away from the coast in the Swiss town of La Chaux de Fonds in 1948, their notability for watches preferred by divers, sailors and deep-sea explorers alike grew in 1948, the 100th anniversary of their founding, with the Seamaster line of watches.

This collection of professional dive watches pays homage to Omega's ocean heritage that has seen a great success come from a dedication of accuracy, precision and durability that push the boundaries as we once knew them. Such accolades include being selected by the British Royal Navy, helping two divers break world records in 1968 for simulated diving at 365m and of course, being chosen by Jacques Yves Cousteau to assist during a number of diving endurance experiments. This legendary history has continued to evolve to suit modern day purposes, encapsulating what the creator of the Bathysphere once described as 'a true progress for watchmaking science'.

Made with Great Dives in Mind

Today, the new Plant Ocean chronograph movement pieces stand at the forefront of watchmaking excellence, expertly blending performance and innovative design. As with other collections such as the Omega Seamaster and Aqua Terra, these technical timepieces continue the brand's rich heritage of dive watches through modern, state of the art technology that has deservedly gained Master Chronograph certification.

This aspirational collection is often characterised by its impressive water resistance capabilities, reaching 600m/2000ft. The truly valuable qualities don't stop there; these ingenious Omega Plant Ocean models also feature a movement that boasts a patented co-axial escapement and a helium release valve that is a distinctive marker of innovation, as well as playing a vital role in that during a saturation dive, this function allows helium atoms to escape.

Aside from their ability to dive deep and withstand crushing pressures applied by the open water, Planet Ocean watches indexes are coated with Super-LumiNovaTM, emitting a blue light which helps divers to accurately track their time under water. This works alongside the minute hand and dot on the diving bezel glowing green for distinction and further accuracy.

Attractive and Accurate

Working tirelessly to overcome limitations, Omega has introduced ceramic bezels for a sleek effect, enriched with LiquidmetalTM, with cases of 39.5mm, 43.5mm and 45.5mm created from stainless steel or SednaTM gold. Not stopping there, for the first time ever rubber has been introduced alongside ceramic to cover the first 15 minutes, creating a dynamic new diving bezel. The use of rubber straps in models such as the Omega Olympics 2018 and the 600M Planet Ocean Master Chronometer receive anti-bacterial treatment. Rubber also adorns leather strap editions or additional function and comfort qualities.

The pleasing and elegant aesthetic accompanies the state of the art technology to create timepieces that are not only perfect for exploring the waters, but also for wearing to dinners, meetings and the like. With some models such as even featuring an exhibition case back, so you can witness the true finesse in a true sense of assured style. It is no surprise that models belonging to the Planet Ocean collection are the watch of choice the most famous secret agent, James Bond, preferred for their ability to be stylish, robust and reliable in its every day wear fit for all occasions.
