The Raymond Weil Freelancer range was released in 2007, alongside the Nabucco collection. These two collections seemed to represent a change in the attitude of the firm as the first releases after the hiring of Raymond Weil’s two grandsons into director positions.
The Freelancer was released at the same time as the brand attempted to modernise and redefine its place within the luxury watch market by changing their logo and changing the company’s official colour to dark brown. As such the Freelancer was the first collection to be part of these newly redesigned and retooled staples of the Geneva based watchmaker.
The Freelancer is available in both gent’s and ladies models, both collections have a variety of different designs, each with their own unique appeals. The more classically styled gent’s models dominate the range, with the Freelancer automatic chronograph being designed in the same way as many earlier Raymond Weil watches have been; however other models from the collection have a more contemporary and sporty feel to them, such as the Automatic Open Balance Wheel variant.
The ladies collection features a mix of both contemporary styles and traditionally designed watches, each of which serves a place in the collection, and in many ways exemplifies the transition that Raymond Weil has undergone in recent years. From the contemporary styling of the Automatic Chronograph to the traditional elegance of the Automatic Date, there is certain to be a watch that pleases all tastes in the collection of Raymond Weil Freelancer watches.
The Freelancer collection embodies the rebirth of Raymond Weil into the 21st century perfectly, whilst still maintaining the classic design elements that brought the watch maker to the forefront in the first place.
