Precision, Power, & Pitt: IWC's Starring Role in the New “F1” Film

IWC has launched a special collection of watches that celebrate its links to yet another Hollywood blockbuster. Bathed in rich, velvety black tones, the dials of these Pilot Watch Chronograph watches exercise restraint and a lack of elaborate labelling, allowing fans of the film and the manufacturer to enjoy both aspects in equal measure.

To dismiss a watch featured on silver screen is to overlook an integral layer of cinematic artistry. Watches have featured in movies for years, acquiring a pop culture status that not only serves as a silent storyteller but also allows a brand to flex its creative muscles. Watches double up as crucial plot devices (think Bond’s iconic Omega Seamaster or the Hamilton Murph) and become extensions to an on-screen character’s personality. A carefully chosen design can speak volumes about a movie’s production team and the manufacturer it collaborates with.

Wherever there is a point in a heist film, or a desperate glance at a character’s wrist mid-way in a crucial moment, a watch is there, amplifying suspense and pushing the film’s narrative forward. Watches also make for compelling portrayals in fictional sports films, too. The TAG Heuer Monaco became an emblematic instrument when stylized on the wrist of Steve McQueen in the 1971 film, Le Mans, subsequently becoming near-on detachable from its role as a timekeeping tool behind the wheel of a Porsche 917K

Indeed, the portrayal of a watch on screen is never accidental. Every prop, camera angle, and frame is meticulously curated to enrich the scene and, of course, promote the watchmaker and its association with the filmmaker or actor. It says a lot about the brand, too - what its values are as a watchmaker, for example, and where it sees its watches performing when real life turns to action movie mode. One watchmaker with a particularly impressive curriculum vitae in the field of movie making is IWC Schaffhausen, which has recently launched some watches from its popular Ingenieur and Pilot’s Watch collections in celebration of a prop watch used in the 2025 “F1” film, starring none other than Brad Pitt.

IWC and Film

IWC shares a particularly interesting history with the world of cinema. Not only are some of its brand ambassadors successful actors (Cate Blanchett, Jeremy Renner, Ewan McGregor, Dev Patel) but these strategic partnerships within the film industry have helped promote the functionality and robustness of some of the company’s most beloved collections, like the Aquatimer, the Pilot’s Watch, and the Ingenieur. Some of the brand’s cinematic associations include the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor" models, sported on the wrist of Miles Teller’s character, Rooster in the “Top Gun” Franchise, as well as the IWC Mark XVIII, featured on the wrist of Cate Blanchett in “Ocean’s 8”. The IWC Mark XV also appeared in a memorable scene in “Vanilla Sky” starring Tom Cruise, while the no-nonsense design of the IWC Pilot's Mark XVI slotted in perfectly in a scene starring legendary actor Bruce Willis in “RED”. Other appearances include the IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar as a tool watch on the wrist of Jason Statham's deep-sea diver character in “The Meg” and, most recently, the Ingenieur in Joseph Kosinski’s latest film “F1”.

IWC Stars in “F1” Film

If you’re partial to an IWC watch and you love Formula 1, the new Pilot’s Watch releases will impress on every level. This collaboration with the film represents a collision of customized vintage-inspired pilot watch aesthetics and high-octane, action-packed fiction. Not only does one of the sports watches appear on Brad Pitt’s wrist as he plays the role of a veteran racer, but Damson Idris's character also sports the Pilot's Watch Performance Chronograph in the film. In celebration of its cinematic presence throughout the film and its role as the official watch sponsor of Pitt’s fictitious racing team in the movie, IWC has developed a special APXGP racing team-inspired collection.

Brad Pitt and IWC certainly have some history. Not only is the A-list actor a fan of IWC when he’s away from the spotlight, but he’s also a brand ambassador and was seen wearing the IWC Pilot's Spitfire Chronograph during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This new blockbuster, however, blurs the lines between reality and fiction, featuring Brad as the lead character, dragged out of retirement to guide the fictional APXGP to victory

The film features scenes taken from real-life F1 events from around the world and features a plethora of IWC watches as the storyline unfolds. Without spoiling the plot, Brad Pitt is seen wearing a vintage ’70s IWC Ingenieur SL ref. 1832 model with a custom green dial designed by the Cloister Watch Company. As a tribute to this special timepiece, IWC has introduced a modern Ingenieur Automatic 40 watch – a limited edition of just 40 pieces. Accompanying this special design are three IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronographs, two of which are steel and a third crafted from 18ct rose gold. All three tip their hat to the racing team’s black and gold livery.

IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 and 42 APXGP Watches

Side by Side: the 41mm & 43mm IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP Watches

Two of the three “APXGP”-inspired chronographs are the steel versions in respective 41mm and 43mm case sizes. These models, along with the rose gold version, take their name from the fictional 11th F1 team that features throughout the movie. Their black dials feature white luminescent Arabic numerals and gold minute markers, along with rose gold-plated central hands and sub-dial hands. IWC experts opt for the same chronograph layout, with sub-dials positioned at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, as well as a day-date at 3 o’clock, all protected by an anti-reflective piece of sapphire crystal glass.

Flip the watch over, and the APXGP is emblazoned onto the surface of a sapphire exhibition caseback in rose gold, revealing the Calibre 69385 beneath it. The self-winding movement is an in-house chronograph engine featuring a column wheel escapement and a power reserve of 46 hours. Some of the movement’s 242 components are put on display and traditionally decorated through the glass, showcasing some of IWC's finest mechanical expertise.

Both steel versions in 41mm & 43mm feature the APXGP team insignia on the transparent sapphire caseback

Both models are fitted with a black rubber band laser-engraved with the APXGP logo on their surface and incorporate the brand’s EasX-CHANGE® strap change system for quick strap adjustments on the fly, utilizing a simple button feature.

The black dial, highlighted by white numerals and gold accents, mirrors the dynamic palette of the APXGP’s race livery.

IWC Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 18ct Rose Gold

Almost identical in design, save for a few details here and there, the 41mm IWC Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 spotlights the demand for racing and the importance of precision via an 18ct rose gold version of the steel variant. This time, however, the APXGP branding is replaced by classic motorsport-inspired design features, such as a tachymetric scale on the black ceramic bezel, and a smooth, unadorned black rubber strap that foregoes the commemorative F1 team lettering. Despite imparting a sense of indulgence, this 41mm rose gold version distances itself from the sporty steel chronographs, although it still features a tinted sapphire crystal caseback, a rich, glossy black dial, and luminous, golden-accented appliques for legible timekeeping.

IWC Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41mm - Worn on the wrist of Damson Idris’ character Joshua Pearce in "F1: The Movie". The case, pushers and crown crafted from 18-carat 5N gold.

The use of the tachometer bezel not only achieves an all-around sportier aesthetic but also serves a functional purpose, allowing the wearer to measure time based on distance while at the side of the racetrack. Perfect for wearing behind the wheel, too, its polished 18ct rose gold push pieces and crown are solidly engineered to uphold a 100-meter water resistance, while the chronograph can handle measuring stop times up to 12 hours.

Powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre, this automatic movement boasts a 46-hour power reserve.

The 18ct rose gold version of the IWC Pilot’s Watch APXGP series features the same Calibre 69385 that powers the 41 mm and 43mm steel models. Its performance is made visible through the tinted caseback, but this time, there is no lettering relating to the fictional racing team. In keeping with the plain rubber band, this watch borrows all the stylish design cues from the dedicated “F1”-inspired steel models, but without direct visual references.

Closing Thoughts

The core concept and design philosophy of the new IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP watches bridge the gap between the classic aviation roots of the collection and an altogether bolder racing-infused sportiness. The manufacturer demonstrates a clever use of racing team colours, utilising black and gold hues throughout the design, which imbue both classic and contemporary nuances. Then, of course, there is the subtle use of branding in the steel versions. Those who don’t want to carry direct links to the movie can opt out by choosing the more luxurious 18ct rose gold iterations. The 41 and 43mm cases are wearable sizes for the average male wrist and have been integrated with 100M water resistance, making them great daily wearables. These new racing-inspired chronographs are a compelling choice for motorsport fans, as well as those who love the pilot watch’s functionality and its “instrument for professionals” character. Whichever way you look at these new releases, they are both tokens of cinematic history and a direct link to IWC’s aviation past. All three carry cultural resonance, without detracting from the essence of the Pilot Watch design.

All three models are now available to order from Banks Lyon. For more information, call our sales team today on 01524 381 020 or contact us online.

Jump to the Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary Collection ➤

It’s hard to admit for some of us, but we’ve been enjoying the Big Bang watch for 20 years (feeling old yet?). Hublot couldn’t just let that milestone pass without marking it in some way, and like the Big Bang itself, the Nyon-based watchmaker has gone all out. The 20th Anniversary Big Bang watches, launched at Watches & Wonders back in April, are a celebration of everything the rebellious, cutting-edge sports watch stands for.

The Big Bang watch collection has been in existence since Jean-Claude Biver released the inaugural design in 2005. To create the avant-garde design, he explored ergonomics, melted materials and researched cutting-edge technologies. On paper, it looked completely absurd, but in reality, Hublot’s design was an example of pioneering excellence, and it occupied a niche segment that many other companies had never dared to explore. Ironically, many of those brands would eventually borrow inspirational cues from its disruptive design.

A Brief History of the Big Bang

The Big Bang watch was the design that single-handedly catapulted Hublot from a niche brand to a global powerhouse overnight. And the fact that Hublot was only 25 years old when it launched the luxury watch serves as a reminder of just how young the brand is. It remained a relatively small player until the porthole-inspired watch reached the wrists of connoisseurs.

The design features a round bezel adorned with H-shaped screws atop a dramatically layered case construction. The sandwich-effect case became a playground for experimental materials, including carbon fibre, rubber, titanium and gold.

The idea behind these new celebratory 20th-anniversary releases is to bring back some of the Big Bang collection’s signature designs and concepts. Amongst the latest releases are a King Gold model, a titanium iteration, and an all-black ceramic variation.

The Hublot Big Bang Titanium 20th Anniversary Edition

The 20th Anniversary Titanium Big Bang is much lighter in weight compared to its steel counterparts, especially the initial 2005 models. It weighs just under 100 grams compared to the steel’s 140g weight. Even better, Hublot utilises the Unico II generation movement, which was first introduced inside the Big Bang collection in 2017. It hails from the initial UNICO movement, which revolutionised Hublot’s approach to watchmaking when it first launched, enabling it to down-size some of its bestselling watches. The movement is significantly smaller in size compared to some of the brand’s earlier ETA-powered models, thereby reducing the overall weight of the watch.

The Hublot Big Bang King Gold 20th Anniversary Watch

The King Gold Big Bang was introduced in 2009 and has been a mainstay throughout the brand’s catalogue ever since. In this new design, the combination of the blushing pink King Gold with the black ceramic elements is a match made in heaven. The painting of colour and raw material takes us right back to the beginning of the Big Bang journey.

The proprietary King Gold material is an 18ct gold alloy containing 75% pure gold and a remaining 25% composition of other metals, which gives it a warmer and more intense rose gold hue. One important part of the unique King Gold blend is the inclusion of platinum, which prevents the copper from oxidising over time.

Invisible Visibility – the Hublot Big Bang All-Black 20th Anniversary Watch

When Hublot released the all-black Big Bang watch, the concept behind its design centred around the idea of “invisible visibility”. Confusing, right? Well, not really. It made perfect sense. In creating a completely alien concept and one that went against all timekeeping logic, it stood out all the more.

Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary All Black 43mm (Ref. 431.CI.1340.RX) - Discover Now

When Jean-Claude Biver first revealed the watch to journalists, he was met with the question, “Well, how do you read the time on it?” to which Biver replied, “You don’t need to read the time; you can check your smartphone for that!”.

It’s true. The Big Bang was all about wearing a piece of art. Its muscular, stealth-like aesthetic no longer needed to prove its practical value to a collector. Moreover, it diverted away from practicality. Before long, many companies were copying the all-black look. Although not all attempts were successful, many were able to achieve the look.

Black ceramic was relatively new at this point, and the combination of the black case and an equally dark dial made tracking the time rather fun. That’s still the case with this new 20th-anniversary release. You have to play around with the dial a little. Catch it in the right light, and once you get some reflection on your hands, the fundamentals of timekeeping are still there; rest assured.

The Specs

The new Hublot watches all measure 43mm in diameter, have a thickness of 13.2mm, and are water-resistant to 100 meters. They feature the familiar Big Bang chronograph three-counter arrangement across a stamped dial and a red-accented chronograph seconds hand (except for the all-black one). These watches have no lugs (rather a sloping, tapering profile that flows from the case) since they feature an integrated bracelet system that allows you to exchange the strap with one single click.

However, what will appeal to small-wristed collectors the most is that, from top to bottom, the case measures 45mm in length. For a 43mm watch, this smaller top-to-bottom length helps draw the watch in, allowing it to feel more compact.

The original Big Bang didn’t have the removable strap system. Twenty years ago, if you wanted to swap the strap, you could either risk scratching the watch using tools at home or take it to a watchmaker. One of Hublot’s primary objectives with these celebratory watches is to showcase the versatility of the modern-day Big Bang. Hublot’s strap range is varied, giving you plenty of opportunity to experiment with these models on different textures and colours, thanks to its removable strap system.

The straps on these new releases have also been redesigned and feature a pretty neat surface pattern with a stamped effect. But with so many textures to play around with, including smooth, lined, structure, and ribbed designs, not to mention alligator patterns, you’re certainly not going to be stuck for choice. The gradual move towards strap versatility is a stark contrast to the earlier days of the Big Bang. Now, manufacturers call the shots a lot less. They listen to their audience and give them the freedom to decide how they want to wear their watch, as is the case with these new anniversary pieces. If you want leather, blue rubber, red rubber, or a metal bracelet – they’re all possibilities now.

The Unico II Movement

The in-house Unico II movement that lies within these new watches is capable of producing a 72-hour power reserve once fully wound. This is a noteworthy feature to mention, as many chronographs on the market today still only have power reserves of around 40 hours.

Interestingly, for the first time, Hublot adorns this movement with a 22ct gold oscillating weight alongside the “20 years” anniversary lettering. This is an entirely exclusive feature and the only non-black component in the All-Black model. Of course, the movement has bi-directional winding, differing from the original Big Bang movements, which only wound in one direction.

The Others

As a brief sidenote, two other iterations of the Big Bang 20th Anniversary watch have been released alongside these three models. One is the “unscratchable” Magic gold, forged from special cylinders of boron carbide – an ultra-hard ceramic – that is then compressed into the shape of a case before being impregnated with 24ct gold under incredibly high pressure and high temperatures. The gold fills the voids within the porous composition of the boron carbide, resulting in a material that has a hardness rating of 1000 Vickers (compared to the 150 Vickers hardness rating of standard 18ct gold). This is an incredibly hard material, even more scratch-resistant than ceramic. When you think about it, it’s a very valuable quality to have in such a large watch, as it’s likely to come into contact with the occasional bump or accidental knock. It’s a unique shade of gold, to say the least. Hublot’s Magic Gold is different to King Gold and standard gold, exuding an attractive dull golden hue that looks incredibly smart against its black ceramic accents.

Hublot has also released a Red Ceramic version. The implementation of the red ceramic material in Hublot’s watches marked a key moment of innovation for the company. It was the brand’s first vividly coloured ceramic moment. And for those who understand the complexity behind the ceramic-colouring process, this was no easy feat for the brand. It was only logical that Hublot would incorporate a watch so important to the 20th Anniversary collection

Final Thoughts

The new Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary watches revisit some of the most emblematic milestones in the brand’s history. The titanium, all-black ceramic and Magic Gold iterations bridge the past with the present, sharing some exclusive features that Hublot collectors are certain to appreciate. They all provide a very enjoyable glimpse into the history of the Big Bang. Despite nodding to some blasts from the past, they will all undoubtedly find their place in the modern world without issue.

The Hublot Big Bang Titanium and All-Black Ceramic 20th Anniversary watches are limited to 500 pieces, while the King Gold is exclusive to just 250 pieces. All three are available to order now from Banks Lyon. For more information, contact us today

Jump to the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Collection ➤

The new OMEGA Aqua Terra 30mm watches occupy an intimate space between engineering and feminine elegance. For the first time, this unique blend comes in the form of a 30mm case size.

“…don’t overthink it. It styles itself”.
“…wear it with joy. That’s the secret”.
“This watch will never come off”.

Those were the first impressions that the new OMEGA Aqua Terra 30mm watches made on Amy Winehouse “Back to Black” star, Marisa Abela, successful actress Ariana DeBose, and model-turned-entrepreneur Ashley Graham. They join a line-up of new, fresh-faced advocates for OMEGA’s latest slew of elegantly sporty watches from the ever-popular Aqua Terra collection. Launched in tandem with a new campaign, they capture a discreet and quietly sophisticated layer of the Aqua Terra watch, and they certainly haven’t been lost on female horophiles, either.

Only last year, OMEGA debuted a new trio of Aqua Terra watches (albeit for men) with black lacquered dials following its inaugural release of the first-ever standard production white-lacquered Speedmaster Moonwatch. To cut a long story short, the people fell head over heels in love with those Aqua Terra watches, which refocused the attention back to clean, understated aesthetics.

In that same vein, these new Aqua Terra watches for women celebrate retained symmetry and a pared-back cohesiveness. Suffice to say, if you’re in the market for a sports watch that can conceal its rugged elegance behind indulgent dial colours and sumptuous materials, the Aqua Terra deserves a place in your collection. In the case of these new watches, less is more.

Indeed, at first glance, the new OMEGA Aqua Terra 30mm watches may lure you into false pretences. But don’t be fooled. They aren’t as delicate as they look. In fact, this is not just another case of extending an already popular model with a handful of different dial configurations. The brand has carefully considered the proportions and ergonomics of this new design, finding ways to perpetuate the brand’s long-standing commitment to mechanical excellence. In doing so, it unveils something wholly invigorating and fresh. OMEGA has re-engineered two historical movements that can now exist inside the Aqua Terra’s first-ever 30mm case.

From Deck to Desk – The Aqua Terra

The Aqua Terra is one of the most comprehensive watch collections period. It has always been loved for its versatility, being so adept at transitioning from a stylish statement piece to a bona fide tool for everyday wear. Although solidly made and incredibly robust, it has garnered a reputation for adorning the wrists of fashion-conscious women.

Ashley Graham & Marisa Abela modelling the New OMEGA Aqua Terra 30mm in OMEGA's "My Little Secret" campaign.

The Aqua Terra is part of the broader Seamaster series, inheriting the brand’s rich maritime history and, of course, its love of the classic sports watch. It first arrived in 2002 with a distinctly more elegant aesthetic than other Seamasters, as well as a more than capable 300M water resistance. Today, the Aqua Terra is just as popular and is currently available in sizes of 34, 38, 41, and 43mm. With this in mind, the latest edition of the 30mm size is an even more compact and discreetly elegant iteration than any other in the collection.

The 12 New OMEGA Aqua Terra 30 References

A total of twelve new beautiful “secrets” (as OMEGA refers to them) are about to unleash their gold and steel shades on discerning female collectors far and wide. The releases are trickling into our stores here at Banks Lyon and are already proving to be a popular topic among our loyal OMEGA fans, as well as those new to watch collecting. The models have an enduring timelessness, making them both practical and versatile enough to wear with work attire, a casual weekend ensemble, or something fancier by evening.

All twelve releases are of the new 30mm size – five of which are crafted entirely from stainless steel, along with seven references made from gold or a combination of gold and steel. Of the latter, one Aqua Terra is of the 18ct Sedna™ gold type, while another three references are crafted from the brand’s proprietary 18ct Moonshine™ gold. The remaining three are a combination of steel and Sedna™ gold or steel and Moonshine™ gold.

Most intriguing of all has to be the “linen”-coloured dial of the 18ct Sedna™ gold model. The shade sits somewhere between a champagne and a soft lilac, allowing waves of rippling light to dance across its sun-brushed surface. The same can be said for the Moonshine gold dial seen in the solid Moonshine™ model, as well as its siblings – the green dial and mother-of-pearl dial – all of which boast diamonds adorned to their bezels and scintillating diamond dot hour markers.

Of the two-tone options, a choice of steel and Moonshine™ is available in either silver (without diamonds) or a mother-of-pearl (with diamonds). The remaining gold iteration is a combination rendered in steel and Sedna™ gold with a brown diamond-set dial. All of these models are 150-meter water resistant, as are the steel variations. Of these steel numbers, the deep lavender dial has to be the most unique, closely followed by the sunray grey model with diamonds on the bezel and hour markers. The remaining three are the most classic of the bunch, comprising a silver, black and blue iteration – all characterised by the familiar pill-shaped hour markers and tapering handset.

OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150 30mm. (Ref: 220.15.30.20.56.001) - Discover Now

All of the new OMEGA Aqua Terra 30mm watches feature a circular date window at 6 o’clock. This is a discreet dial element that creates the illusion of a slightly larger 6H diamond in those watches of the diamond-set variety.

New Calibres

Each of these twelve new Aqua Terra watches is equipped with one of two new movements that have been cleverly re-engineered and resized to accommodate the collection’s debut 30mm case. They both have a diameter of 20mm but differ slightly in thickness. For the movement that powers the Aqua Terra watches incorporating steel – the Calibre 8750 – mechanical prowess is delivered in the form of a 3.98mm mechanism. The Calibre 8751, which sits inside the solid Moonshine and Sedna gold watches, measures a depth of 4.08mm.

Still, these minute differences in proportions are unnoticeable when experienced in the metal. The team here at Banks Lyon can testify to the svelte and sleek persona of this new, smaller Aqua Terra and the movements that lie within them, which OMEGA suggests is the “most beautiful part of the watch”.

Those who are more than familiar with OMEGA’s contribution to mechanical accuracy in Haute Horlogerie won’t be at all surprised to hear that these new movements incorporate OMEGA’s Co-Axial escapement and a silicon balance spring to resist the damaging effects of magnetism. Aside from being bi-directional winding engines, they also boast Master Chronometer certification, along with a magnetic resistance of 15,000 gauss.

Slipping the watch off for a session at the gym or a dip in the sea proves no issue either since the movements come with power reserves that last over the 48-hour mark. It goes without saying that the complexity of these OMEGA calibres and their stealth, performance and accuracy won’t be lost on ladies with a passion for high-end timepieces and a deeper interest in horology. You can even catch a glimpse of the movements in action through their sapphire crystal casebacks.

The Bracelet

For the new Aqua Terra releases, OMEGA takes the opportunity to shine a light on the engineering of its bracelet. This is an integrated bracelet design featuring a combination of polished and brushed links that interact with the light, creating a subtle, jewellery-like finish.

Setting itself apart from many standard steel bracelets, the metal band that appears on these OMEGA watches benefits from the company’s patented screw-and-pin system, along with a refined butterfly clasp and pushers that promote easy manipulation, but only when you need it. Aside from taking the watch off, the bracelet is designed to stay affixed snugly to the wrist hour upon hour. And for times when a quick adjustment is needed, OMEGA equips the bracelet with its 2mm easy-comfort adjustment system.

Women’s Watches by OMEGA

OMEGA has made several pioneering contributions to the field of ladies’ wristwatches. For a start, it doesn’t treat women’s watches as mere accessories for decorating the wrist. Its female-focussed watches are made specifically for women who share an interest in proper, real watchmaking.

You could say that OMEGA was on the ball from an early age. Realising that women deserved a slice of the watch-collecting pie, it made “secret watches” during the 1900s, rebelling against societal norms. These special timepieces were concealed within ornate pendants, brooches, and bracelets, enabling women to enjoy the art of timekeeping while appearing to adhere to whatever society demanded as normal at the time. During the 1920s and 1930s, however, women’s watches began to adopt the Art Deco style. During this period, OMEGA developed some incredibly bold models, celebrating clean lines and minimalist detailing.

Come 1955, OMEGA was getting ready to launch a groundbreaking achievement – the brand’s first automatic watch for ladies – the Ladymatic. It combined a compact size with an elegant style, which brings us up to the present day. Though OMEGA has since released models like the De Ville and Constellation watch, it has never lost sight of the core focus of its wristwatches from the days of the Ladymatic. Mechanical accuracy – whether simple or complex – is there for all to enjoy.

Jump to the Breitling Superocean Heritage Collection ➤

When you consider the well-roundedness of Breitling’s catalogue, there can be no doubting the importance of the Superocean Heritage line. It paints the Swiss watchmaker as a company that is sympathetic to its past but also mindful of moving with the times. The line has benefited from the brand’s advances in material technology over the years, not to mention expanded its menu of dial colours for those seeking a touch of “je ne sais quoi”. A quick glance through the brand’s original Superocean Heritage collection unravels a vast array of colour schemes from unassuming blues and greys to the softly spoken hues of mocha (as seen in the brand’s Superocean Heritage ’57 Highlands watch) and even a punchy yellow dial thrown in to sweeten the pot.

However, all that is about to change. Breitling has given the Superocean Heritage a complete facelift, which will see all previous iterations of the line replaced by a somewhat cleaner, sharper-looking, and more disciplined line-up. They rock more colour options to pair with Breitling’s signature mesh-style rubber band and newer movements bearing the “in-house” label. It’s the change that discerning Breitling enthusiasts have been long awaiting. Here at Banks Lyon, we’ll be stocking all the new colourways and their respective strap configurations, and they’re available to order now. Could one of these new Breitling Superocean Heritage watches be the rugged, elegant dive tool your collection is currently missing?

“…the Superocean line is a nod to the golden age of recreational diving”.

Before we unveil all that is new about this next-gen Breitling Superocean Heritage watch, let’s take a look at the La Choux-de-Fonds manufacturer’s roots in creating indispensable dive watches. The Superocean, after all, is a collection that can often get overlooked, which is no surprise given the resounding success of the Navitimer and Chronomat lines. Together, the Chronomat, complete with its iconic rider tabs and the Navitimer’s expertly engineered slide rule bezel, represent some of Breitling’s finest work in aviation timekeeping. Indeed, the brand’s top-tier pilot watches are complete pillars of success and have become examples of astounding craftsmanship. However, we can’t forget that the brand has also carved out a solid reputation for itself in manufacturing some of the most capable dive watches ever made.

The Superocean first appeared in 1957. Most of us can’t cast our minds back that far since the Superocean has amassed a huge following of many young fans over recent years. Those of us who were around in the 1950s, however, will appreciate that the Superocean line is a nod to the golden era of recreational diving. It commanded a huge audience of fun-seeking water-goers, as well as those more serious about diving, and it all started with the ref. 1004 Diver and the ref. 807 Chronograph. The growing popularity of the scuba-diving culture really drove these designs home. The 39mm ref 807 could quite possibly have been the first-ever panda dial to exist, while the ref 1004 was a three-handed, slightly more compact (38mm) model. Both versions featured a sword-and-arrow handset, triangular hour markers, and a 200M water-resistant case – a significant technical feat for its time.

The launch of the Superocean Heritage occurred in 2007, marking 50 years since the original Superocean. Modifications, such as the bulkier Arabic numerals that replaced the angular, wedge-like markers, along with simpler bezel markings and a 1950s-style mesh bracelet (available in either steel or rubber), marked a distinct evolution of the ubiquitous dive tool. Then, the year 2017 brought more case size options to the table, thanks to the creative vision of CEO Georges Kern, pushing the Heritage line firmly into neo-vintage territory.

The New Breitling Superocean Heritage Watches

Now we reach the part you came for. Hailing from the classic design, the new Breitling Superocean Heritage watches of 2025 are ripe for daily life and come in dial colours of blue, black and a deep moss green colour. Choosing between the 28 configurations will purely boil down to personal choice. Predominantly, it’s worth noting that all the models put new movements to good use. The 42mm chronographs are equipped with the steadfast Calibre B01 movement – an in-house engine that has been well-utilised throughout the company’s sports watches since 2009. The simpler three-handers lack nothing in the way of mechanical prowess, either. These ones are fitted with the brand’s latest B31 movement, (with the exception of the smaller 36mm model). More on that shortly.

Of the bunch, the six Superocean Heritage B01 Chronograph 42 watches stand out for their neat bi-compax layouts. The sub-dials take up residence at 3 o’clock (30-minute totaliser) and 9 o’clock (small seconds) and are balanced by a date window nestled into the 6 o’clock location. The two-register dial donates a sense of balance across the respective sunray blue, black and moss-green surfaces, each one equipped with the familiar spear-and-arrow handset. It’s worth noting here that the spearhead design on the minute hand is now more prominent, while the bullet-like shape of the hour markers and the arrow-tipped hour hand has received a generous splash of Super-LumiNova for aiding legibility at night. Lastly, the most luxurious iteration is the black dial model, which features the piston push-pieces, crenelated bezel, and dial elements rendered in sumptuous rose gold tones for an elevated look.

Breitling scores a home run with the new tone-on-tone bezel and dial colours of these Superocean watches. The three-handed time and date models do a grand job of perpetuating the level of skill involved in matching the unidirectional bezel’s ceramic inlay with the display. The 40mm models are the Goldilocks size, with dials offered in just green and black. This time, the black is an all-steel design, but it is also available in two-tone stainless steel and rose gold, alongside steel-only models in blue and green, for the 42 mm size. Each of these 200-meter water-resistant models comes with the option of a mesh steel bracelet or colour-matched mesh rubber band, securing with a Breitling-engraved folding clasp.

Suffice to say, the Breitling Superocean Heritage 44 is no shrinking violet. Its broad 44mm dimensions house the Calibre 31 inside a steel and rose gold iteration, complete with a blue dial and bezel, or in the more conventional steel option in green or black. All automatic models are available in the same strap options.

Lastly, for female fans of the Superocean (or indeed those with less-endowed wrists), the 36mm models remedy those in need of more manageable proportions, with the arrow-and-spear handset circumnavigating the dial across tones of deep blue and mint green. The green mesh rubber band for the latter model perhaps proves the most unusual strap colour that Breitling has dared to experiment with so far.

The In-House Movements

The real story here is the movement. Breitling fans will be doing cartwheels inside at the thought of the new B31 movement being put to use in this latest generation of dive watches. The 40, 42, and 44mm three-handed Superocean Heritage models are all powered by the aforementioned B31 movement, which Breitling recently introduced inside the Top Time in March. For those who don’t yet know, the B31 is Breitling’s first in-house time-only calibre. Under the hood of these shimmering blue, dark green, black, and mint green Superocean Heritage watches, it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It features a free-spring balance wheel for improved accuracy, along with 78 hours of power reserve, COSC chronometer certification, and a skeletonised rotor. Classic Côtes de Genève finishes and traditional perlage decoration can all be admired through a sapphire exhibition caseback, too..

Meanwhile, the B01 calibre, featured in the chronograph models, was the movement that ushered in a new era of watchmaking for Breitling, underscoring the point at which the brand took a step closer to vertical integration back in 2009. This 1/4th of a second stopwatch movement featured a classic column wheel mechanism and served as the base movement for descendants, such as the brand’s perpetual calendar (Calibre B19) and the B04 GMT complication.

Lastly, the 36mm models benefit from the Calibre 10, an ETA-based movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The movement, with 22 jewels, performs at a rate of 28 800 vibrations per hour behind a closed steel caseback.

Nostalgic Dive Watch Charm

The new Breitling Superocean Heritage watches evoke a time when luxury dive watches were not only worn but also used as professional timing tools. Breitling experts return to the basics with a nostalgic dive watch charm that will resonate with both experienced and young collectors alike. Any one of these timepieces could take you from beach to boardroom without even having to consider whether the strap, size, or dial colour will suit the setting. While the rubber strap options help inject a touch of colour to the wrist for casual weekend attire, you can certainly promote the metal band options to a dressier role of the evening.

Either way, all 28 options are available with our 0% finance option, allowing you to spread your payments over a more manageable timeframe. If you’re anything like me, you haven’t been able to stop thinking about the new timepieces that made their debut at Watches and Wonders this year. From solar-powered TAG Heuer Formula 1s, to a 20th anniversary Hublot Big Bang, there’s truly so much to digest from this event, and many new releases to get excited for.

One of these exciting releases, or technically a ‘re-release’ is the TAG Heuer Day-Date Carrera. The Carrera watch was initially launched in 1963, and TAG Heuer have refreshed these watches for 2025. They retain the same sophistication and class as the original design, but with new design variations and upgraded features. In this article I’ll be discussing the TAG Heuer Day-Date Carrera in more detail, and why it’s a watch worth investing in.

A Legacy Spanning More Than 60 Years

The Carrera lineage dates back to the 1960s, originally named after the Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico, one of the most dangerous races in the world. The original Carrera was designed to be clean and legible for professional race car drivers, featuring a minimalist dial, chronograph function, and purposeful features.

While the early Carreras were chronographs only, the expansion into time-only and day-date models came decades later in the ‘80s and ‘90s, when the brand were looking to expand beyond professional racing circles. This meant that new features could be added, such as the full calendar function with both day and date at the 3 o’clock position, as they were no longer catering to drivers who needed the dial to be uncluttered at all times. Despite expanding into this broader audience, this watch has remained an essential for many of the biggest names in racing.

Engineering & Innovation

The new Carrera Day-Date certainly has some updated design refreshes, but for many the most significant change will be in the watch’s movement. Gone is the old Calibre 5, the movement with a 38-hour power reserve used in prior Carrera three-hand watches. In its place, TAG Heuer has introduced the TH31-02 manufacture movement, co-developed with AMT. This movement boasts an impressive 80-hour power reserve – a significant improvement from the Calibre 5. In practical terms, that means you can take the Carrera off your wrist Friday night and still find it running Sunday evening.

If you’re someone who enjoys appreciating the fine craftsmanship that goes into watchmaking, then you’ll appreciate the transparent case back that allows you to see the inner workings of the TH31-02. This display back features a new engraved ‘Victory Wreath’ emblem, symbolic of the Carrera’s motorsport lineage. The screw-down clock at 3 o’clock, and 100m water resistance means that this Carrera can handle a swim or a rainy day, which is a welcome accompaniment to a watch that has a rather formal look. I think that the engineering of the Day-Date Carrera feels modern, convenient, and durable, marking it as a big step up from the earlier Day-Date models.

Model Lineup and Variations for 2025

At Watches and Wonders 2025, TAG Heuer launched five Day-Date watches, in addition to one new Twin-Time GMT. They all share the same 41mm steel case, but with slightly different colour and strap options. Here’s a breakdown:

Each of these keeps the Carrera Day-Date layout – 3 hands plus a framed day and date window side by side at 3 o’clock, but each with unique colour and bracelet combinations. TAG Heuer also introduced the Carrera Twin-Time, which swaps the day-date for a GMT function with a striking teal dial. It uses the TH31-03 calibre and is identical in size. In my opinion, the watches in this collection include subtle colour inclusions to make them stand out, such as the red and blue dials, but they all maintain a clean-cut look that is essential for professional and formal occasions.

After seeing this watch at Watches and Wonders and now at our Lancaster store, I am genuinely impressed. It blends classic Carrera charm with modern mechanics, which ticks a lot of boxes for me. It is robust yet refined, and features like the 80-hour power reserve and impressive in-house movement mean that the Day-Date is a piece you can truly count on. There are style variations for different types of collectors, such as the two-tone model or the striking red gradient dial, not to mention the stunning teal shades seen in the Twin-Time. For anyone who, like me, loves motorsport-inspired elegance with solid reliability, the 2025 Carrera Day-Date is one to add to the wish list.

If you’d like to try on the models I’ve mentioned in this blog, please visit our Lancaster store, where our team of knowledgeable staff will be able to help you select a Carrera that’s perfect for you. At the beginning of April, horology fans from around the world gathered in Geneva, Switzerland for the Watches and Wonders 2025 event. This 7-day event is the highlight of the year for watch enthusiasts like myself, as industry-leading brands like Rolex, Hublot and IWC gather to display their latest releases, limited edition pieces, and other exciting announcements.

As proud stockists of many of these iconic brands, we wanted to share our insights on the standout releases and innovations presented during the event. From revived Cartier classics steeped in heritage to bold new interpretations of TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 collection, Watches and Wonders 2025 offered an exciting showcase of craftsmanship, design, and innovation.

Tag Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph

One model that truly captivated my attention was a watch model that has been around since the 80s. Whilst this event can be about displaying new innovations and unique designs, it can also be about paying homage to the heritage of these luxury watch brands, such is the case for the Tag Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph. The Formula 1 was first introduced in 1986 as a nod to the brand’s association with auto racing and has since become a staple watch family within the world of Tag Heuer. At Watches and Wonders, they revealed a brand-new Solargraph version of the timepiece, which is fuelled by solar power.

The Solargraph collection will be a blend of limited-edition pieces and models that are here to stay, incorporating a bold 38mm case size and a sporty, refined design for the modern watch-wearer. The first of the ‘core’ watches will release in early May, with the rest following throughout the rest of the year. The core watches incorporate something for everyone, such as a clean and simplistic stainless steel bracelet variation, or alternatively a striking red watch with a bio-polyamide case.

For the limited-edition range, these are set to release in accordance with the Formula 1 calendar, with models inspired by the races of Barcelona, Silverstone, Miami, Mexico, Singapore, and Monza. Each watch in this new line is a modern reimagination of the 80s classic, built with the latest technologies and design features.

The Tag Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph collection is available to purchase at Banks Lyon, so be sure to contact us to arrange a viewing of these watches in person.

IWC Ingenieur

It wouldn’t be a luxury watch event without the mention of IWC Schaffhausen, and this time, they’ve brought notable upgrades to the Ingenieur line. As a watch that dates back to 1955, this watch has a legacy and fanbase that makes an integral model amongst IWC’s range. The new Ingenieur lineup includes a 42mm black ceramic model with a bold, matte finish, first sported by Ed Sheeran prior to its release. IWC have combined the integrated bracelet design with a full ceramic case and bracelet to create a refined timepiece that any collector will want in their collection.

Alongside the sleek matte black edition, IWC unveiled a striking gold 40mm Ingenieur crafted from 18-carat 5N gold, elevating the design to be more elegant and decadent. The contrast between the gold bracelet and the deep black dial creates a modern, luxurious, and fashion-forward statement. If you’re an avid IWC enthusiast like me, you may recall the Ingenieur spotted on Brad Pitt’s wrist ahead of the upcoming F1 film, featuring a silver bracelet paired with a captivating green dial. Although IWC has yet to confirm if this version will be available to the public, they hinted that more details will be coming soon.

These variations expand the Ingenieur collection with luxury materials and design features, whilst still retaining that robust, simplistic look that many appreciate.

In addition to the Ingenieur, IWC have introduced a new Pilot’s Watch to celebrate the F1 movie, branded to the film’s fictional racing team, APXGP. Available in both 41mm and 43mm stainless steel cases, this chronograph model blends iconic IWC watchmaking with the sleek colour palette of APXGP. These timepieces feature a black dial accented with white numerals and gold-plated hands, which are filled with white Super-LumiNova ® for legibility even in harsh conditions. Both models feature the APXGP team logo on the transparent case back, a distinctive detail that not only connects the watch to the word of Formula 1 but also marks it as a rare crossover between motorsport and cinema. In my opinion, this watch is a must-have for collectors who value exclusivity and storytelling within their watches.

Hublot Big Bang Anniversary

To mark the 20th anniversary of the iconic Big Bang model, Hublot has unveiled a bold new collection that honours the spirit of the original while pushing the boundaries of innovative design. This lineup includes standout limited editions like the striking Red Magic (limited to just 100 pieces) as well as reimagined classics in titanium, king gold, full magic gold and all-black ceramic.

These watches are powered by Hublot’s in-house Unico calibre with a 72-hour power reserve, with features like the patented One Click strap system. The pinnacle of the collection was the ‘Materials & High Complications’ five-piece set of Big Bang watches that sold for $1.1 million on the first day of the event. For fans of this bold, iconic design, the 20th anniversary collection is definitely one to keep an eye out for.

In addition to the special 20th anniversary models, Hublot also announced the Big Bang One Click, which gets its name from the convenient fastening system that allows wearers to changes watch straps seamlessly. In shades such as Mint Green, Sky Blue, Pink, and Apple Green, these timepieces are colourful, bold, and customisable to different occasions. The bezel of these watches are adorned with 36 gemstones, including blue topaz, pink sapphire, tsavorite and diamond, for a sparkling look that complements the bright colours of the straps. For a unique and feminine watch, I think the Big Bang One Click stands out.

These are just a few of my personal highlights from this year’s event - there are of course other brands and models that stole the show at Watches and Wonders. If any of these standout timepieces have caught your eye, we invite you to visit us at Banks Lyon. Our expert team is on hand to guide you through our curated selection of luxury watches, including iconic timepieces from brands like IWC, Tag Heuer and Hublot. Ready to discover your next watch? For Breitling, 2025 looks to be the year of reimagining the Top Time watch. This iconic timepiece has a rich history dating back to the 1960s, and most recently, Breitling has introduced two exciting new models: the B01 Martini and the B01 Racing.

With their motorsport-inspired details and comfortable leather straps, these watches mark a bold new chapter for the brand.

And I’m here to give you the lowdown on this latest launch and why it’s one to watch.

Whether you're already a fan of Breitling or just curious, I think you’ll find plenty to admire in the design, features, and overall design of these new models. If anything catches your eye, you can explore our full collection of Breitling Top Time watches right now.

Let’s take a closer look at what makes these watches so special - and why they might just be worth the investment.

The Top Time Collection: Stylish Since the 60s

If you caught our recent blog on the Breitling B31 launch, you’ll already know that the Top Time collection has a rich heritage. In fact, a customised version even made it to the big screen on Sean Connery’s wrist in the 1965 Bond film Thunderball. If that doesn’t speak to the prestige of this watch range, I’m not sure what does.

Willy Breitling originally envisioned the Top Time as a bold, racing-inspired chronograph that captured the spirit of the swinging sixties. The modern Top Time Racing collection proudly carries that legacy forward, blending iconic design cues from the era with the high-quality design elements that define Breitling today.

Fast forward to the present, and the Top Time remains a favourite among watch enthusiasts. With its perfect mix of vintage charm and contemporary style, it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re drawn to its motorsport roots, standout design, or premium materials, this collection continues to prove that functionality and flair can go hand in hand.

The Top Time B01 Racing

As someone who’s always had a soft spot for vintage-inspired timepieces, this range immediately caught my eye. As the name suggests, the B01 range is inspired by some of the classic racing features, appealing to the sporty chronograph approach that Willy Breitling envisioned. Most obviously, this comes in the form of a ‘surfboard’ motif that takes inspiration from classic car dashboards. This gives the watch a unique retro quality that will be sure to impress motor racing fans, without being too bold and unwearable.

I also love the cushion-shaped case, which is crafted from high-quality stainless steel and is a comfortable fit, deterring from the traditional circular appearance seen in many leading watches. Even though Breitling has been fond of increasing the size of their watches over the years, the B01 Racing takes a notable detour from this, coming in with a 38mm diameter that makes it the ultimate medium-sized timepiece. The watch features a tachymeter scale, which allows you to measure speed – an ideal inclusion for anyone wearing this for sporting purposes.

The two Top Time B01 Racing models on offer both come with perforated leather straps, an ideal solution for comfort and practicality, as well as matching the racing aesthetic of the collection. With a medium dial and premium leather straps, these watches work well for most wrist sizes and style preferences. Choose between a deep green or warm-toned brown leather strap, with both variations having neutral, wearable tones.

The Top Time B01 Martini

In addition to the two Top Time B01 models, Breitling have also brought out the Top Time B01 Martini. Martini holds an established reputation within the automotive industry, and this watch incorporates some of the brand’s signature colours and design features to pay homage to this legacy. The blues and reds of Martini racing culminate in this vintage-inspired piece, that boasts the same comfortability and style that the other models do.

The tachymeter and dashboard feature bares similarity to the racing models, providing a contrast between the deep blues of the watch’s details and the clean, white dial. The seconds and 30-minute sub dial hands are coated in bright red, as opposed to the warm, more orange-toned shade seen in the racing models. Despite the Martini name not appearing anywhere on the watch, automotive fans will instantly recognise the brand’s identity from these iconic colours, making it a subtle yet meaningful watch to own.

In terms of the technicalities, these watches are powered by the iconic Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01; a dependable and precise COSC-certified movement seen in many models from the brand. They come with around 70 hours of power reserve, ensuring that your watch is prepared for whatever occasion you might need it for.

This collection of watches is limited to just 750 pieces, so if you’re interested in any of the models we’ve mentioned, I’d recommend contacting us or visiting our store in Lancaster. View our broad range of Breitling watches, with options for 0% financing.

Father’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show just how much we value the father figures in our lives. Finding a gift that genuinely expresses that appreciation can be a challenge, but over the years, I’ve discovered one present that never fails to make an impression: a timeless, luxury watch.

If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift that’s both meaningful and built to last, a carefully chosen timepiece is hard to beat. With that in mind, I’ve curated a selection of standout watches to suit a range of styles, personalities, and lifestyles. Whether your dad is the adventurous type who needs something durable for the outdoors, or he prefers a more refined watch for formal occasions, you’ll find the perfect gift at Banks Lyon.

For the Classic Gentleman: Heritage Styles

If your dad appreciates the finer things in life, there’s a good chance he has a soft spot for luxury timepieces. For someone with a discerning eye and a love of tradition, heritage watch designs make an ideal Father’s Day gift. These are not trend-driven pieces - they’re timeless icons built to last a lifetime and beyond.

One name that immediately springs to mind is the OMEGA Seamaster. I’ve always thought of it as the gold standard for the classic gentleman’s watch. It’s not just the build quality or the design, it’s the legacy. After all, James Bond himself has worn it in GoldenEye, Casino Royale, and more recently in No Time to Die. For film fans or those who admire Bond’s effortless cool, the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m “007 Edition” James Bond Watch is a brilliant nod to that timeless character. I particularly like how it feels rugged yet refined - just as comfortable on a dive as it is at a formal dinner.

For dads who lean towards a more vintage-inspired style, I often recommend the Longines Master collection. There’s something effortlessly elegant about their designs. One piece I really admire pairs a black dial with a brown leather strap, a subtle combination that works brilliantly both with a suit and more casual outfits. I’ve seen it worn at weddings and weekend lunches alike, and it never looks out of place. It’s the sort of watch that quietly improves an outfit, which I think any style-conscious dad would appreciate.

For the Adventurous Dad: Durable Luxury

I’m sure there are many of us who have dads who are always outdoors, whether they're out cycling on the weekends or hiking up a mountain. For this recipient, consider watches that are durable, comfortable, and equipped with features that enhance their outdoor adventures.

One watch I often recommend is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer. In my experience, it strikes the perfect balance between ruggedness and style. Originally designed for deep-sea diving, it boasts impressive water resistance, so it’s ready for anything from a spontaneous swim to a rainy-day hike. Yet, it remains sleek and wearable enough for everyday life, which I think is key! Your dad shouldn’t have to switch watches when he moves from adventure to a dinner out.

There’s a great variety within the Aquaracer range, too. If your dad prefers something sporty and subtle, the matte black rubber strap versions look fantastic and feel comfortable on the wrist. On the other hand, if he’s a fan of bold colours, the aquatic blue stainless steel models really stand out without being over the top. From my own experience, a watch like this can be a constant companion, whether navigating trails or running errands around town.

For those that enjoy the appeal of a smartwatch, the Garmin Fenix collection is a step above traditional luxury watches, allowing the wearer to make calls, create sport-specific training plans, and track their health and wellness in great detail. Despite their smart capabilities, Garmin watches don’t compromise on style, with shades ranging from a neutral limestone to monochrome black.

For the Watch Aficionado: Collector’s Picks

Choosing the right watch can be tricky, but picking one for a true collector? That’s a whole other challenge. When you’re shopping for someone who knows their brands, complications, and watch families inside out, it’s all about finding something special, whether that’s a rare, limited edition or a key piece missing from their collection.

If your dad hasn’t yet added a Cartier Santos de Cartier to his lineup, now could be the perfect time. This watch is a genuine classic, beloved by collectors for its rich history and distinctive design. What I find fascinating about the Santos is how Cartier has refined it over the years, blending tradition with modernity to suit different tastes. Due to their heritage, Cartier has had the opportunity to develop and redesign models, ensuring there’s something for everyone, from mixed-metal designs like the Cartier Santos-Dumont Large Watch to more modern styles, such as this sleek grey variation.

Perhaps your dad already owns the classics and is looking for something a little more unique. If this is the case, I recommend treating him to a TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph Limited Edition, especially if he’s a fan of F1. These watches are each designed with a set Formula 1 race in mind and employ a special solar-powered technology which sets them apart from many other watch movements.

Breitling has just unveiled its latest collection of high-quality, stylish timepieces - the Breitling Top Time B31 Collection.

Inspired by the original Top Time watches of the 1960s, this new range blends vintage charm with modern innovation, all while upholding the exceptional craftsmanship for which Breitling is renowned.

As passionate watch enthusiasts, our entire team always look forward to the launch of a new Breitling model. And we’re not alone! Breitling timepieces are universally favoured for their reliability, durability, and versatility, alongside the impressive array of colours and materials available to suit every taste.

As an official Breitling stockist, we’re thrilled to have the new Top Time B31 Collection available at Banks Lyon.

The Heritage of Breitling Top Time Watches

Before we look at what’s new, let’s remind ourselves of the origins of Top Time, and why it is a collection worth getting excited about (at least in my expert opinion).

The original Breitling Top Time was launched in 1964, designed by Willy Breitling to appeal to a younger generation seeking a modern, sporty chronograph. With its sleek design and accessible price point, the first Top Time was a watch that both men and women could enjoy, offering both style and performance in equal measure.

Of course, one of the most iconic moments in Top Time history came in 1965 when it appeared on the wrist of James Bond in Thunderball. Watching Sean Connery’s Bond use a specially modified Top Time, complete with a built-in Geiger counter, only adds to the watch’s enduring appeal, especially for fans like myself.

Since then, Breitling has expanded the collection with lots of different exciting variations, including the distinctive ‘Zorro’ and ‘Racing’ dials, featuring two or three sub-dials for a bold, dynamic aesthetic.

Reimagining the Top Time

One thing I admire about Breitling is their ability to take an iconic, older watch model and transform it into something relevant, sophisticated, and practical. I think the new Top Time B31 range does just that.

An intriguing feature about this new collection is the introduction of Breitling’s 3-hand automatic manufacture calibre, which is seen for the very first time in this range. As leaders in manufacturing some of the world’s most reliable and precise movements, I’m interested to see how this new complication will differ to other Breitling options.

Catering to a wide range of design and comfortability preferences, the Top Time watches come in both perforated calfskin leather straps and 3-row bracelets. The dials and leather straps also come in several shade variations which overall adhere to a neutral, earth-toned colour palette, for that classic look that will never go out of style. Keen eyes will note that the leather strap option references the material of vintage racing gloves, continuing the theme of subtle historic inclusions.

As a unisex watch, the Top Time B31 features a 38mm watch face, working well with both masculine and feminine styles, without looking too overpowering on the wrist. This case size is reminiscent of previous Top Time watches, blending vintage proportions with contemporary style and construction. For those that are interested in the internal makeup of their timepieces, this watch includes an open case back – perfect for avid watch enthusiasts.

Breitling have partnered with actor Austin Butler on their new Top Time campaign, helping to engage fans of Butler’s work, and continuing their tradition of working with leading figures in the world of film.

The Top Time B31: Variation Breakdown

Now that we’ve covered the collection’s legacy and how it’s been reimagined for 2025, let’s discuss the different models available:

  • Royal Blue Elegance: As a deviation from the traditional neutral-toned watch dials, this royal blue option is the perfect way to inject some colour into your everyday wear, with a muted blue leather strap or stainless steel bracelet to accompany it.
  • Dark Green Sophistication: A slightly darker, more evening-appropriate choice, this dark green watch face incorporates a black bezel for a refined look. This variation is also available with a stainless steel bracelet or a deep green leather strap
  • White and Sky Blue Contrast: For a two-toned option, this watch face features a central white colour and a sky blue bezel, working as an excellent choice for both men and women. Choose from a stainless steel bracelet or vintage-inspired brown leather strap, to get that classic timepiece appearance.

Each of these watches are water resistant up to 100m and feature a self-winding automatic movement. Their combination of traditional design and impeccable watchmaking enables them to be the perfect addition to any watch enthusiast’s collection.

If any of the Top Time B31 watches have caught your eye, then enquire now, and one of our expert team members will be able to help you in your purchase. Whether you’re interested in the Top Time range or our Breitling watches on finance, then be sure to visit our Lancaster store to see these timepieces in person.

As the seasons shift, so do jewellery trends and I couldn’t be more excited! Spring is all about fresh beginnings, and that includes stunning new designs featuring vibrant gemstones, delicate floral motifs, and timeless watches that you'll cherish forever.

At Banks Lyon, we’re celebrating the arrival of spring with a carefully curated selection of jewellery, from statement rings to elegant bracelets and necklaces. Let me take you through some of my favourite pieces that will perfectly complement your spring wardrobe. Keep reading to find your next must-have accessory!

Vibrant Spring Gemstones

Spring is a season of renewal. Flowers bloom, days grow longer, and everything feels a little more exciting. I love capturing that same energy in jewellery, and one of the best ways to embrace the season is by incorporating colourful gemstones into your collection. A pop of colour can instantly refresh your everyday look, making every outfit feel fresh and full of life.

When it comes to spring-themed gemstone jewellery, look for stones such as Aquamarine, a colour reminiscent of the pale blue sky. For a subtle but colourful piece, these 18ct White Gold Aquamarine and Diamond Hoop Earrings are an excellent choice, and their small hoop design makes them wearable for a number of occasions. To create a matching set, discover this 18ct White Gold 2.02ct Marquise Cut Aquamarine & Diamond Dress Ring, which incorporates a spectacular stone shape encompassed by diamonds.

Emerald is a decadent gemstone to include in your spring jewellery rotation. Reflective of the greens that mark the change from winter to spring, this stone pairs beautifully with both gold and silver shades. For instance, this 18ct White Gold 1.02ct Emerald and Diamond Floral Style Pendant with Chain blends floral imagery with this green stone, resulting in the perfect spring piece. For an emerald and gold combination, check out this FOPE Souls 18ct Yellow Gold and Green Emerald Medium Ring for a subtle yet trendy way to include green shades into your jewellery collection.

Floral and Botanical-Inspired Designs

Floral patterns and motifs aren’t just for spring - they’re timeless. I love how they bring a touch of nature into everyday style, adding a sense of elegance and charm to any look. Whether you’re drawn to bold flower-shaped jewellery or prefer more subtle botanical accents, there’s a perfect piece waiting for you in our collection.

For a bold floral design that includes a pop of colour, these 18ct White Gold 1.91ct Sapphire Cluster and Diamond Halo Clover Style Stud Earrings use the deep blues of Sapphire contrasted with the sparkling tones of White Gold to create a luxurious pair of earrings. For spring earrings that have a slightly more subtle signifier of the season, these 18ct White Gold 0.94ct 8 Stone Marquise Cut Diamond Stud Earrings are reminiscent of spring leaves through the use of marquise cut diamonds.

If, like me, you’re interested in a piece with a bolder spring appearance, this Georg Jensen Daisy Ring is the perfect dress ring, blending whites, greens, and classic floral imagery. Floral designs come in various shapes and sizes, such as this 18ct White Gold 0.87ct Diamond Floral Pendant with Chain, which uses a vintage-inspired flower design for a timeless look.

Timeless Watches for Spring Elegance

Incorporating spring designs into your look doesn’t have to end at jewellery – watches are a great long-term investment, and they are available with a range of spring shades, both on the dials and within the outer elements.

Watch dials are the perfect place to inject spring colours. They aren’t overpowering, offering a subtle pop of colour onto the wrist, whilst still providing an alternative to neutral-toned dials and straps. Breitling Chronomat watches provide a selection of colourful watch dials for women, constructed of luxurious Mother of Pearl. This pale pink variation is the perfect choice for spring, creating an alluring contrast between the pastel watch dial and the stainless-steel bracelet, with the addition of diamond set numerals. Alternatively, opt for a pastel blue Chronomat to replicate the natural colours of spring skies. For admirers of green tones, this Longines Conquest Automatic 34mm features a sunray green dial with silver hands and indexes, creating a natural contrast that works well for both springtime and beyond.

If you’re looking to introduce a vibrancy watch into your spring outfits that goes beyond the coloured dial, women’s watches that incorporate colourful metals, like rose gold, are a great way to achieve this.

Spring brings some of the most beloved design features and colours, from pastel pinks and blues to natural imagery. Whatever your style, colour, or metal preferences, we have an array of products that would make elegant additions to your spring wardrobe.

Classic Bridal Jewellery Sets: Matching Engagement and Wedding Rings

Engagement and wedding rings will hold a place on your hand for decades to come, so it’s vital to consider all the relevant factors when choosing either ring. Here are some tips to help select rings that complement each other while reflecting your personal style:

  • Matching Metals: One thing I often hear from brides is that they want their engagement and wedding rings to feel like a perfect pair. If you have a platinum engagement ring, a matching platinum wedding band creates a beautifully cohesive look. We offer engagement and wedding rings in a range of different metal types and design, ensuring you can find find something that reflects your personal style and love story.
  • Cohesive Designs: Some couples prefer engagement and wedding rings that share similar design elements. For instance, if the engagement ring features a diamond shoulder, then choosing a diamond wedding band will create a seamless look across both rings.
  • Bespoke Ring Design: For brides interested in a completely customised ring set for their wedding, our bespoke ring design service may be able to fulfil your needs. You can have a say in how the end result will look, so if you’re wanting interlocking engagement and wedding rings, or to add a touch of personalisation with engraved initials, then bespoke jewellery design will help to make the set uniquely yours.
  • Comfort and Fit: Since you’ll be wearing these pieces on a daily basis, one of the most important aspects is selecting jewellery that’s comfortable and wearable for any occasion. This includes choosing rings made from high quality materials and a design that won’t get easily caught on clothes or long hair. If you’re unsure, we would be happy to help you try on different styles to find one that feels just right.

Thoughtful Gifts: Sentimental Ideas for Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

It has become commonplace for brides and grooms to offer their parties a gift of some sort to acknowledge their efforts towards the big day. The gift you choose is entirely based on your preference, some opt for personalised gifts whereas others select an idea that can be worn during the wedding festivities.

If the latter option sounds appealing, then we have a range of pieces that would work excellently as gifts for groomsmen or bridesmaids. This Georg Jensen Reflect Ring is an exceptional option for both men and women, giving a contemporary and refined look for any individual. For groomsmen, consider a luxury watch that they can treasure for years to come, such as this Tissot PR 100 Quartz 40mm watch that includes a pale blue dial, reminiscent of the pastel shades of spring. For bridesmaids, a sentimental option could be gifting a pair of earrings that they’re able to wear on the wedding day, such as these 18ct White Gold 5.5 x 6mm Classic Akoya Pearl Stud Earrings.

Incorporate Spring Themes: Florals and Pastels into Wedding Jewellery

Adding elements of spring into your wedding jewellery is a subtle yet elegant way of incorporating some of the season’s themes of renewal and new beginnings into your look. Motifs such as flowers, pastels, and nature-related images are timeless spring icons that are frequently used in jewellery, and I think are an excellent way to add further personalisation to your day.

If you’re looking for a necklace to wear on your wedding day, this 18ct White Gold 0.70ct Diamond Floral Pendant incorporates spring design elements in a captivating and timeless way. A similar design is also available in a sapphire and diamond variation, if you’re interested in adding a pop of colour. For a more feminine look, this Georg Jensen Daisy Bracelet mimics the appearance of a daisy chain, with colourful inclusions of green, white, and sterling silver.

Earrings work as an excellent way to integrate spring design elements into your wedding day look, offering an elegant piece of jewellery that can be cherished for years to come. The blush tones of spring are encapsulated in these 18ct Yellow Gold Black Mother of Pearl & Diamond Alhambra Stud Earrings. Alternatively, for a dangle style of earring, opt for these 18ct White Gold 1.23 Pear Cut Aquamarine & Diamond Earrings, blending the sky-blue shades of spring with bridal diamond.

I hope this blog has given you some inspiration for your wedding jewellery! Choosing the right pieces, whether it’s a classic wedding band, a sentimental gift, or a touch of spring in your accessories, makes your special day even more meaningful. These are the little details you’ll cherish forever, reminders of the love and joy you felt on that day.

Alternatively, the Diamond Set Marcia Bangle presents a slightly more decadent choice of bangle, with small diamonds encased on one side of the design.

For those that prefer more flexibility in their jewellery, Georg Jensen have various bracelet designs to choose from in both sterling silver and 18ct Yellow Gold.
