Omega's Enduring Diver's Watch

For the past 30 years Omega has been at the forefront of diver’s watches thanks to its superb range of Seamaster Ploprof watches. Originally released in 1971 as a combination of both technology and style, the Ploprof has been a firm favourite among divers ever since.

The Ploprof Has Been Worn by Many of the World's Most Celebrated Divers

With 3 different generations of Ploprofs, ranging from the original 1971 version up to the reissue from 2010, the watch has maintained its place at the very top of the list of diver’s watches. The intriguing name of the Ploprof is derived from the combination of two French words, “Plongeur” which translates as diver and “Professional” which translates as Professional; these two words are combined to form the name Ploprof.

Obviously the Omega Ploprof watch has many special features that single it out as one of the very best diver’s watches available; one of these is the incredible water resistance. This is termed “Ultra Water Resistant” by Omega and it allows for the Ploprof to remain effective to 600m for the Seamaster 600 edition and 1200m for the Seamaster 1200 edition. However the 600 edition was tested by Omega using Hydrostatic pressure and it was found to continue working up to a depth of 1370m, at which point the crystal on the face became so deformed due to pressure that it began to obstruct the second hand from moving.

Over the years the Ploprof has been favoured by many of the worlds most famous divers and was in fact developed in conjunction with Jacques Cousteau, possibly the worlds most celebrated deep sea diver. It is this heritage and incredible functionality that will allow the Omega Ploprof watch to remain popular with divers and collector alike for years to come.
