Breitling have recently released an updated model of their Superocean line, the Breitling Superocean 44. When the new Superocean was released back in 2010, one of the complaints that a lot of Breitling enthusiasts had was that the case was not large enough, at only 41mm.
The new Breitling Superocean 44 has changed that, along with a few other details. The new model has a larger case at 44mm, which is more typical of a diver’s watch, especially with the increasing popularity of larger dials for fashion wear. The larger face however does not necessarily mean that it has incorporated more on the actual face, in face the opposite is the case. The dial is more of the style of a watch in the Breitling Professional range, with the Arabic markers now only being seen at the 6 and 9 positions, as opposed to the other Superocean models.
As is customary upon the release of a larger case size for Breitling, the new model has an improved depth rating. The depth rating of the Breitling Superocean 44 has been increased from the original models by 500m, from 1500m to 2000m. This change is sure to please many of the diver’s watch enthusiasts, who use depth rating as a benchmark of the watch’s functionality.
The new addition to the Breitling Superocean family is sure to prove popular, with the increased case size appealing to many of the younger customers who believed that the older models were too small. This, along with the improved depth rating will make the Superocean 44 a fine addition to the range.
