TAG Heuer: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016

The annual hill climb Goodwood Festival of Speed has been/ held in the grounds of Goodwood House in West Sussex, England, since 1993. 2016’s edition was this past weekend, from 23rd to 26th of June. Featuring the world’s rarest motor racing vehicles, the Festival attracts around 100,000 visitors a year in a stunning show of motor sport royalty and amazing racing cars.

2016 marks the 40th anniversary of James Hunt, British motor racing legend, winning the Formula One World Championship. TAG Heuer has honoured the occasion with a tribute in the form of a pair of limited edition Formula 1 watches. These timepieces are the result of an exclusive partnership between TAG Heuer, the Estate of James Hunt, and Freddie Hunt, James Hunt’s son and fellow racing professional.

Tribute to a Legend: James Hunt

James Hunt was a British racing car driver whose climb to the top started with Hesketh Racing after a start in touring car racing and Formula Three. His daring actions on the track earned him the nickname “Hunt the Shunt”, ‘shunt’ being a British racing term meaning ‘crash’. His Formula One career started in 1973 and ended in 1979, three years after his big win. After retiring, he became a Grand Prix commentator for BBC where his tactical knowledge, dry sense of humour, criticism, and technical insight furthered his fan base. His legacy has inspired many, including his son, to embark in the motor racing career, and TAG Heuer is proud to be part of honouring his brilliance.

Tag Heuer have a long history with motor sports and in conjunction with festivals like the Goodwood Festival of Speed they are not only celebrating the past of motor sports, but also its future.
