TAG Heuer Takes Social Media by Storm

Social media now is an integral part of modern society, and the fact that a brand name possesses an otherwise robust online presence amounts to little if they neglect this vital area. Social media allows far greater communication between a business and its customers than would have been possible in the past, and nothing serves to catapult advertising campaigns into the public eye like an instance of social media gone ‘viral’. Making use of an exhilarating blend of Formula 1 and football, the resulting advertising campaign was obviously an unprecedented success, as the video in question (see below) was numbered among the top ten ‘most shared and viewed’ online videos during September.

According to WatchPro, the video was featured on a list that was compiled by the news website Mashable.com, and this represents the very first time that TAG Heuer has ever experienced such success on Mashable’s regular ‘top ten’ compilations. In actual fact, it’s a first for the horological world as a whole, as no other watch manufacturer has ever produced a video that has featured on a Mashable top ten. TAG Heuer has genuinely broken new ground with this feat, then, but that’s not all, as they actually managed to score an additional hit during the very same month.

The video in question can be seen above, and it promotes TAG Heuer’s latest global advertising campaign Don’t Crack Under Pressure. A week ago, this video had been viewed over 10 million times, and that count will have obviously risen even higher by now. Intended to graphically convey that TAG Heuer has faced down every watchmaking challenge that has been posed over the last century-and-a-half, choosing its own route to success and never ‘cracking under pressure’, the campaign has been further publicised by numerous brand ambassadors who have been identified as possessing similar qualities of determination, and it certainly seems to have struck the right chord so far.
