Breitling, Britain’s premier manufacturer of luxury watches, are set to unveil their latest model very soon, an updated version of the classic Breitling Transocean that should be widely available in the New Year.
Breitling has strong ties with the aviation industry and this is reflected in the design of their watches. Since the launch of their iconic Navitimer watch in 1952 Breitling chronographs have become the watch of choice for many pilots around the world. The newly redesigned Transocean is no exception to the rule and various features of the design are clearly inspired by a significant period of aviation history. The Breitling Transocean primarily takes inspiration from the long haul aircraft of the 1950s and 60s, an era where transcontinental air travel was a relatively new concept. It was also during this period that the original Transocean watch became extremely popular with pilots of the era, particularly those piloting aircraft such as the Boeing 707, DC-8 and Caravelles, three enduring symbols of the early days of Transatlantic air travel.
The new version of the classic range of Breitling watches has been updated for the twenty first century, but retains many of the features that made the first issue so popular. At the heart of the new Transocean you will find a precise, self winding movement designed and manufactured exclusively by Breitling, ensuring that these watches keep excellent time. The Transocean is shock resistant, anti-magnetic and water resistant to ensure that it functions effectively even in harsher conditions.
