Breitling Jet Tour Heralds New Chronomat

As the ‘official supplier of world aviation’, Breitling usually have a fair few irons in the fire when it comes to aeronautical marketing schemes, and the Breitling Jet Team are often at the very heart of such endeavours. Widely known as the largest professional civilian team dealing with aerobatics in the world, Breitling’s distinctive black and yellow jet squadron have displayed their mastery of the skies on numerous continents, most recently carrying out a tour of Asia in 2013. Yet one sky they’d never flown in was that which is above America; until now, as a grand tour has just commenced.

On April 21st, the Breitling Jet Tour 2015 began its long odyssey across the length and breadth of not only America, but also Canada, and a wide array of showpiece events are planned too. Breitling’s Jet Team – consisting of seven L-39C Albatrosses – will also honour numerous American landmarks by flying over these national icons, with places such as Cape Canaveral and Mount Rushmore expected to receive such treatment in the very near future. Needless to say, some genuine spectacles are to be anticipated during this Breitling Tour, but there’s also something else to look forward to as well.

We are, of course, talking about Breitling’s almost ubiquitous tendency to commemorate such occasions with a limited release wristwatch, and they certainly haven’t disappointed us this time. Breitling’s flagship collection – the Chronomat – is the assemblage that’s providing the new piece, and it’s a real shame that only 500 of these particular variants are going to be produced. Why’s that? Because the Chronomat 44 Breitling Jet Team American Tour Limited Edition (to give the watch its full title) is an extremely striking creation, and one that we’re sure will be in a great deal of demand.

It’s fairly customary for such a watch to embrace the archetypal colours of whatever has inspired its design, so this Chronomat 44 boasts the blacksteel appearance that is starting to become rather familiar in the modern world of horology. However, it also augments this with yellow numerals and hands that mimic the yellow emblems on the Albatross jets, whilst the caseback is engraved with the logo of the American Tour. Unlike many casebacks, the details are not devoid of colour either (see above), so the timepiece is instantly recognisable, and is a worthy addition to the burgeoning Chronomat legacy.

Here at Banks Lyon, the Breitling Chronomat is a particular favourite of ours, and is especially beloved by our very own manager Mr. Bob Bredon. Because of that, we’re always excited to see new arrivals to the range, but even so we still consider that many of the existing Chronomat designs take some beating. You can view a wide assortment of these diverse timepieces by taking a look at our Breitling Chronomat page, so don’t think that you need to wait to acquire your very own Chronomat model of distinction, as we’re on hand to assist right now.
