Bremont at Baselworld

The wait is over and the forthcoming watchmaking developments that are set for release over the next year have been revealed. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at many of the brand specific announcements that Baselworld has brought us, starting today with those that have been revealed by Bremont. The greatly anticipated Bremont collaboration with Boeing had already been declared before Baselworld, mainly in order to serve as an additional notification of Boeing’s centennial anniversary in 2016, and so it comes as no surprise to see that these timepieces have now been realised at the premier watch and jewellery fair. However, Bremont have also outdone themselves with an addition to the high-status Martin Baker family, and a brand new chronometer honed by polar exploration; the Bremont Terra Nova.

Bremont Boeing: Model 1 and Model 247

Utilising aerospace material in conjunction with both historical and archival materials, many of the substances used within the first two timepieces for the Bremont-Boeing alliance have never before been used within any previous wristwatch. The Model 1 takes its name from Boeing’s pioneering aircraft, and has been optimised to represent just such an archetype in the field of aviation chronometers. Released in twin versions, one is manufactured from Custom® 465 Stainless Steel – an aerospace grade metal – and the other is crafted from Boeing’s own ti-64 titanium. The movement of each Model 1 is also framed in blue steel that has clearly been inspired by Boeing. In contrast, the Model 247 has been especially designed to be the first Bremont-Boeing chronograph, and is named after the famed Boeing commercial plane that sports two engines. The two chronograph dials echo this influence, and twin casings (made from the same materials as the aforementioned Model 1 variants) will be made available. You can see all the variants on our Baselworld 2014 Releases page now.

Bremont Martin Baker III

At Banks Lyon, we already stock the Bremont Martin Baker II watch within our established collection of Bremont MB watches, and so we are delighted to see another model within this esteemed collection being heralded at Baselworld. The exclusive Martin Baker I timepiece is rightly admired for being made available only to those who have actually used a Martin Baker ejection seat in full flight, whilst the Martin Baker II is meant to constitute a more accessible alternative. Having been subjected to the same extraordinary trials as the two previous Martin Baker models, the new chronometer upholds the same beloved spirit as its predecessors, whilst also introducing a bronze knurled aluminium military-style barrel. Additionally, this timepiece, along with the Terra Nova, is something of a landmark for Bremont, as it incorporates a non-chronograph GMT movement. We are privileged to expect the Bremont Martin Baker III GMT watch within our stock very soon, so don’t hesitate to register your interest at your earliest convenience.

Bremont Terra Nova

Luxury watches have a history of accompanying humanity on their most extraordinary journeys, and the Bremont Terra Nova has carved out a niche all of its own in this competitive arena. Earlier this year, British explorer Ben Saunders made history by completing Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s tragically doomed Terra Nova expedition. Setting the record for the longest ever polar exploit on foot, the length of their journey was colossal, and a Bremont Terra Nova chronometer was affixed to the exterior of their jacket every step of the way. The Terra Nova watch has now been publically unveiled at Baselworld, and this technological marvel makes use of a GMT functional oiled mechanical movement to withstand even the fiercest cold. Designed to be an invaluable aid to navigators, the Terra Nova was created out of lightweight titanium at the bequest of Saunders, and the sheer durability of this featherweight chronometer is therefore all the more impressive. Tested in freezing conditions of -40° and water resistant to 500 metres, the seemingly indefatigable Bremont Supermarine Terra Nova GMT watch is a stunning achievement in horological engineering, and will be available from Banks Lyon later this year.

At Banks Lyon, we always knew that Bremont would rise to the challenge of Baselworld 2014, and they have proceeded to do so with admirable aplomb. We look forward to adding these new models to our existing collection of Bremont watches in future, and urge you to keep an eye on our website to remain up to date with all of our newest listings.
