Bremont Watch Company introduce “The Bremont Horsemen” WWII P-51 Mustang Aerobatic Team

Yesterday Bremont Watch Company announced their partnership with the, now named, Bremont Horsemen WWII display team.

The ‘Horsemen’ display team were actually formed over a decade ago as the world’s only P-51 Mustang formation aerobatics team. Since then team has gone from strength to strength, gathering followers and enthusiasts and now flies other platforms in formation, including F8F Bearcats, F4U Corsairs and, most recently, the P-38 Lightening.

Though they may have strayed from their original intentions of only flying the P-51 their philosophy remains  the same:

“Escape Life’s Gravity”

Flying purely because they love it so much, their passions for historical aircraft and their peerless dedication was infectious to Bremont Watch Company and so ensues a partnership like no other the British watch brand has entered into before.

The team will commence its partnership with Bremont, and its display season this year at the Duxford Spring Air Show at the end of this month before moving around the country. They will start with their very first performance as the ‘Bremont Horsemen’ with a display in tribute to the American Pilots who flew with the Eagle Squadrons during WWII.  Flying in the historic four-ship across the UK and the US the team will comprise of a Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire, Curtis P-47 Thunderbolt and the North American P-51 Mustang.

The Bremont Horsemen for 2013 are Americans Steve Hinton, Dan Friedkin and Ed Shipley with the British born Paul Bonhomme joining them for their debut. Paul Bonhomme is a previous Red Bull air-racing champion.

“Bremont shares our passion for historic aviation and the desire to celebrate our combat history through the display of fighter aircraft. This partnership offers a unique opportunity for Bremont, the aviation-inspired watch maker, and the Horsemen, the world’s only P-51 Mustang aerobatic team, to capitalize on our natural alignment. As a team, we look forward to flying the Bremont colours in our performances across the globe.”

Dan Friedkin, Bremont Horsemen Team Leader

“Giles and I grew up around vintage aircraft and it still forms a large part of our lives. There has been a great synergy between time and flying – in both cases mechanical machinery tuned and maintained to perfection. The margins for error flying these historic aircraft in such close proximity to each other are minute.”
