2012 saw the release of the eagerly awaited third model in Cartier’s illustrious ‘Tank’ family; The Cartier Tank Anglaise, or simply, the ‘English’ Tank.
This release saw Cartier take a step forward with their design and manufacture and produce a watch that is not only beautiful but contemporary and ‘wearable’. It enforced the point that elegance does not just have to be for women but that men can also enjoy a beautifully crafted timepiece.
Available in three sizes and produced in three colours of gold, steel and rose gold, and two jewellery models – one of which is fully set with brilliant cut diamonds – this model gives a subtle nod to the original Art Deco style of the Tank with its classic dial and Roman numeral indices. The polished finish and rounded edges of the case brings softness, especially to the large model that is a generous 36.5mm wide and 47mm tall.
One must also take note that the large model or the ‘Gents model’ has a complete in-house movement, the Cartier Calibre 1904MC automatic. This is the very first in Cartier’s extensive portfolio to have a movement designed, produced and assembled entirely within the company. And if that weren’t enough the large model also features an exhibition case back that beautifully shows off this beautiful piece of Swiss watch making.
