Every year, we look forward to award ceremonies like the Golden Globes, and every year they come and go, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t leave a lasting impression. This year’s Golden Globes event certainly made a big impression on us, as wherever you looked, it appeared that you were literally surrounded by the workmanship of luxury Swiss brand Chopard. On the one hand, this is no surprise, as Chopard is always supremely well-represented at celebrity gatherings, yet the sheer volume of pieces was nonetheless highly impressive. Here were a few of our observations…
Julianne Moore
Queen of the Golden Globes this year, Julianne Moore won the accolade for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, dazzling the critics with her turn in Still Alice, and she was also nominated in another category for her role in Map to the Stars. She topped the billing in the jewellery stakes too, modelling a plethora of superb pieces from the High Jewellery collection. These adornments included diamond cluster earrings, a platinum set diamond bracelet and two diamond rings of similar prestige, so her complete assemblage of Chopard jewellery was royal indeed.
Eddie Redmayne
Taking home the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama award as a result of his role playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne is now tipped for glory at the Oscars too, and his chosen Chopard Classic Manufacture watch – a rose gold model – certainly didn’t let its acclaimed owner down. It truly was a great night for Redmayne in all respects.
Lupita Nyong’o
Former Golden Globe winner Lupita Nyong’o was an evening presenter this year, but she managed to steal some of the spotlight by sporting a selection of Precious Temptation jewellery. Selected pieces included 18 carat white gold earrings housing various stones, along with a matched ring, but also an Ice Cube ring. Nyong’o may not have been a winner this year, but her jewellery certainly was.
Helen Mirren
Legendary British actress Helen Mirren may not have won the Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comdey or Musical award for her appearance in The Hundred Foot Journey, but her Chopard Red Carpet collection ruby and diamond earrings took some beating. Set in 18 carat white gold, they weren’t overshadowed, and were the perfect complement to her spectacular red dress as well.
Colin Firth
Another presenter this year, Colin Firth is very much on our minds at the minute due to his starring role in Kingsman: The Secret Service, where he’ll be modelling a Bremont watch, but we still don’t begrudge his choice of a Chopard LUC at the Golden Globes. White gold is obviously a popular preference at present, and, alongside a black dial and strap, it formed a very striking combination.
Livia Firth
Livia Firth was not only seen sporting a diamond pave ring from the High Jewellery collection, but also a Green Carpet pair of diamond drop earrings. Made from Fairmined gold, it’s great to see this important Chopard range being showcased at the biggest occasions around the world, and you’d have to be extremely bold to claim that the ‘fairmined’ status has dimmed the jewellery’s lustre.
The 72nd Golden Globes was clearly a stellar environment to soak up some of the latest trends in Chopard watches and jewellery, but if you want to take in some of these pieces ‘in the flesh’, then why not come and view the vast collection here at Banks Lyon Jewellers?
