One of Banks Lyon’s previous employee’s, Mia Collins, successfully climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania recently to raise money for Child Reach International. The climb raised over two and a half thousand pounds which will benefit the local people, including supplies and equipment for schools, building projects to create housing for teachers and supplies to help them grow their own food.

Before the climb Mia visited schools in the local area that would be benefiting from the money raised. There were many in the group raising money for Child Reach International who were all sponsored, raising lots of money for the local people, whilst having a great experience!

“It was a real eye opener – it really made me appreciate home” Mia said after her visit to Africa and grueling climb.

The whole journey comprised of eleven days in Africa, with a 6 day round trip up and back down the mountain. Despite suffering from exhaustion and altitude sickness, Mia reached the summit just before sunrise on the sixth day of her trip.
