Charles Lindbergh May 21st 1927New York, May 20th 1927, 07:43 a.m. – The “Spirit of St. Louis†finally took off from Roosevelt Airport. Destination: Le Bourget airport near Paris. In the cockpit was a 25-year old American called Charles A. Lindbergh. Thirty-three hours and thirty-nine minutes later he landed in Paris, making aviation history with the first non-stop transatlantic flight. As the official timekeeper of the International Aviation Association, Longines duly entered his flight in the record books. Shortly afterwards, close collaboration between Lindbergh and Longine and led to the Longines Hour Angle watch. Conceived and designed by Charles A. Lindbergh, it served to determine exact longitude during long-distance flights.
The Longines Lindbergh 75th Anniversary Edition comes in its original 47.50 mm size and is equipped with a mechanical Longines L699 self-winding mechanical movement. The watch features a superbly finished stainless-steel case and a brown, Alligator strap.
