Mcllroy Presented with Master Co-Axial in Dubai

Golfing superstar and Omega ambassador Rory Mcllroy may have been frustrated by TAG Heuer’s Lewis Hamilton during last year’s Sports Personality contest, but he’s not let that disappointment show within his performances thus far in 2015, as he looks just as impressive this year as he did throughout the course of 2014. Competing at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Mcllroy pulled away from the field by a full three shots, and this victory possesses an extra special significance due to the fact that Mcllroy’s first professional win came at this event way back in the February of 2009.

At that time, Mcllroy broke into the world golf top 20 for the very first time, but, six years on, he’s now at the apex of the sport. In fact, he has been for 27 consecutive weeks, yet this outstanding golfer is still breaking new ground. Of course, all eyes will quite naturally be on Mcllroy at the Masters over the course of the coming year, as victory there would serve as the final piece in his quest to complete golf’s career Grand Slam. We won’t know whether he’ll succeed in this ambition until April, but Mcllroy made the headlines earlier this month too by recording his inaugural ‘hole in one’ as a professional, so you’d certainly have to be brave to bet against him taking the crown.

However, as impressive as Mcllroy’s Dubai Desert trophy undoubtedly is, the team at Banks Lyon prefers the Aqua Terra timepiece that he was presented with by Omega themselves, and, when you’re dealing with a master co-axial model, we think that this bias is entirely justified. After all, it’s the master co-axial that is going to spearhead the new ‘officially certified’ benchmark in horological precision, so such a gift is worthy to serve as the prize of any tournament in its own right. The model in question is a Seamaster that’s crafted from exquisite rose gold, and, although we don’t currently have this specific wristwatch in stock, you can buy a variant that’s almost the double from us.

Like so many Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra watches, this example makes use of a maritime inspired Teak Concept dial, and the whole timepiece is infused with a glorious sense of synergy due to the unified hues of the face and the leather strap. Likewise, the gold of the case is mirrored upon both the hands and the indexes, so it really is an incredibly homogenous design. Little wonder then that Omega relied upon just such a classy aesthetic to stand out at the Dubai Desert trophy ceremony.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that such a watch is only to be worn by Rory Mcllroy, because that certainly isn’t the case. At Banks Lyon, our own Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronometer watch is available now for £11,950, or for 36 monthly payments of £265.56 alongside a 20% deposit. If you’d like to find out more, or want extra information about any of our other Omega watches, please be sure to contact us now by calling 01524 38 48 58. We’ll only be too pleased to help.
