The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Concept Chronograph was released in 2008 at Baselworld. This revolutionary timepiece is destined to be the “first mechanical automatic chronograph watch to measure and display 1/10th of a second.” This TAG watch has a movement that beats at an astonishing frequency of 36,000 per hour. The back of the watch has tinted sapphire crystal through which this movement can be admired.

TAG Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS movement offers an extensive power reserve and two Black Gold rotating systems needed for indicating the minutes at 3 o’clock, hours at 6 o’clock and linear seconds at 9 o’clock. The unique format of this display is a clear outward sign of the innovative deisgn elements seen throughout this piece.

This TAG Carrera watch has a crafted black titanium case with a highly scratch resistant carbide coating and is housed in a stylish 43mm case with incorporated sleek chronograph buttons mimicking the pedals of a GT car. This celebrates the well established relationship between Tag Heuer and the Japanese Car Designer Ken Okuyama, the man behind the design of the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati Ouattroporte.

Ken Okuyama has now captured the attention of a nation once again with his limited edition super KO7 sports car, the interior of which was inspired by this particular TAG Grand Carrera watch. The TAG Grand Carrera 36 is actually mounted on the on the dashboard of the car. The car is comstructed out of light weight materials such as aluminium, titanium and carbon of the top quality, much like Tag carrera automatic watches. Also, in common with the Tag watches, it fascinates the eye and is an example of stunning craftsmanship as well as refinement and supreme attention to detail. It is true that both the car and the watch industry are on a continuous mission to offer the highest possible quality, performance and design while making use of the latest technologies.
